Snowblind is based on a rather vivid dream I had a few years ago and reading about the 'Mummies of the Tarim Basin'*
I also blame a trip to Japan and too much anime.
Research into the cultures and history of southern and eastern Asia dominated the creation of this novel. If you think the rulers of Europe were bad (and some were indeed vile,) go and read some Chinese, Japanese or Korean history. It's another level of intrigue.
I hope you enjoy Lanna's perspective, her gradual adaptation to her environment and her slow realisation that not all is as it seems in Imperial lands.
Lanna suffers from a form of epilepsy, for a full and accurate picture of this I have used the experiences of my son and husband who both suffer from the condition.
I am dyslexic, so there will be the odd mistake I don't notice. I check as best I can but if you see something, let me know in a comment. I won't be at all offended.
In this book, there is cursing, violence and adult themes, but no smut. Heat, hell yes, erotica- not my bag baby.
I hope you enjoy
Anna
