Chapter eleven

I sat on a stool inside the convenience store and waited patiently for Mark and Jackson to come pick me up. I was getting hungry so I bought instant ramen and an egg to make. I gave the cashier my money and I could see him staring at me probably wondering why I was dressed up so fancy. I said thank you and walked over to the microwave. While waiting for my ramen to cook, I thought about what just happened 20 minutes ago. It was surreal I actually can't believe what unfolded.

*beep beep* I was snapped back into reality by the beeping microwave. I took the ramen out and placed it on the counter and sat in the stool once again. Opening my disposable chopsticks, I began to devour the noodles. Man it was so good, better than that trashy ass restaurant, way better.

*ding ding* The door to the convenience store opened, and Mark and Jackson rushed in looking around the store frantically. I looked at them and they walked towards me with worry in their eyes.

"Ella are you ok- Mark!" Jackson started his sentence but was interrupted when Mark pushed him aside to hug me.

His hug felt so warm and comforting. I started to bury my face in his chest and let the tears spill out. I felt so comfortable in his embrace. He tightened his grip around me and rubbed my back in a soothing way.

None of us spoke a word, we just stood in the convenience store hugging each other. My sobs started to die down and I heard Jackson fake a cough.

"So uh..you gonna tell us what happened or are we just gonna stand here all day." He said. I looked over at him and he was eating ramen what. I gave him a smile and nodded.

"Lets get out of here and i'll tell you guys in the car." I proceeded to say bye to the cashier and walked out of the restaurant with Mark and Jackson trailing behind me.

Mark's car was parked on the curb so it wasn't a far walk. I was about to get into the passenger's seat when I heard a familiar voice. I turned around and to no surprise, Kate, Austin, and Jae were standing outside the restaurant talking. Jae looked like he was mad and Austin had a hand on his back trying to calm him down.

"Hey Ella, you okay?" I turned to Mark and saw both him and Jackson staring at me. Tears started to well in my eyes and I looked back to Jae. Except this time, his eyes met mine as well.

He got out of Austin's arms and started making his ways toward me. My eyebrows furrowed and I realized what was happening. Snapping out of it, I turned back around and jumped into the car telling Jackson and Mark to hurry up and get in.

When they finally got in, I locked the doors and waited for Mark to start the engine. Jae came up to the car and started knocking on the window.

"Ella, please come out. Let me explain. Please" He pleaded. I scoffed.

"Fuck no Jae. I'm done with you, you should've told me sooner and maybe I would've forgave you. But obviously it seems that the bet and your pride are much more important than my feelings." I rolled down the window a bit so he could hear what I said.

"No, that's not what I th-" I cut him off.

"Whatever Jae. I don't want to hear it. Have a nice life because I know I will." I said and rolled up the window.

I turned to Mark and his eyes were wide. "What? Drive please." I said.

"Oh right. My bad" Mark shifted the gear to drive and stepped on the gas pedal. I could hear Jackson snickering in the back and Mark had to tell him to shut up.

As soon as Jae was out of my sight, my tears started to gather and I began to sniff. I saw Mark take occasional glances at me but he didn't say anything. It took me awhile to realize that he wasn't driving towards my house.

"Hey Mark...Where are you taking me." I asked. He looked at me, then back at the road.

"You shouldn't be alone tonight. Whatever happened tonight looked pretty serious and I don't need you going all sad and depressed on me. So I'm taking you to the dorms and you'll be staying us for the night, or however long you want." He said with a small smile.

I nodded my head and felt grateful until Jackson spoke that is. "Wait, Ella's staying with us tonight? That means I have to sleep on the couch? I didn't sign up for this shit." He said jokingly.

I turned around to look at him and gave him a death glare. "Jackson Wang. suck. My. dick." I said with a dead face. He put a hand over his chest and pretended to look offended.

"Ella has a dick? Mark, you're gay?" Jackson said sarcastically. Mark made a disgusted face.

"Obviously not. I'm secretly a girl, didn't you know?" Mark replied. This made me laugh and we ended up joking around the whole car ride.

Sometimes, your past isn't too bad.
