I watched the guys fool around at the top of the sand dunes, amused and laughing when I saw Jungkook jump and begin to tumble until he ended at the bottom with me and my friends, them laughing as I could only shake my head at his playfulness. The other members were laughing and I could see Yoongi trying to use the board to go down, but instead of sliding, he falls and also begins to tumble down the hill. They laughed even harder, and I couldn't help but let out a few small laughs of my own. Bayley and Maya were in the background laughing so hard that I could hear a snort every now and then.
Today was the last day of the summer photo shoot, and the guys were fooling around while me, Bayley, and Maya were laughing at them.
We stopped when Jungkook, Jin, and Hoseok grabbed us and began to trudge up the sand dune. I couldn't escape from Kookie's grasp as he went from grabbing my wrist to full-on carrying me like a bride. I felt my cheeks grow hot and I covered my face, embarrassed as I heard him yell out something in Korean while carrying me with confidence.
I felt myself almost die in his arms...
Jungkook puts my down when we reached the top and I looked down. I felt my stomach jump when I saw how high we were and I turn around, shaking my head as I hid behind him. He laughed and I heard Namjoon yell from the other side. "It's not that far down! You'll be fine!"
I call bullshit!
I looked over and I saw Bayley getting on the board as Jin helped her in. She looked at me with shining brown eyes and smiled widely, excited about going down the hill with a board. I looked for Maya and I saw her talking to Taehyung, when she was suddenly tackled by Hoseok.
This caused them to tumble down the hill. Bayley laughed hysterically along with the members and a sandy Hobi, who was getting smacked in the arm by a flustered Maya.
"You jerk! I could've had a heart attack!"
"Sorry, sorry!"
"Bayley, come get your man before I kick his ass!"
She flustered and began to slide down the hill, making sure to be slow until she reached the bottom. I saw her take Hoseok by the hands and ruffling his dark hair, making sand go everywhere.
I laughed until I felt arms wrap around me again before I felt myself roll down the hill.
I screamed/laughed until I felt my body stop rolling and look to my side to see Jungkook laughing, his hair and clothes being completely covered in sand. I slapped his arm, causing him to let out a small "Ow" as I stood up. I look back and saw the other members too, who seemed to be laughing until Jin screamed and jumped back, making Namjoon, Yoongi, Jimin, and Taehyung look at the man with wide eyes. "What's wrong?!" Namjoon asked, concern written over his face as he saw his friend look at the ground in fear while being still. "S-Snake!" He stuttered. "I saw a snake!"
Snake?!
Bayley's POV:
I saw Hobi become stiff as my eyes grew wide while my stomach flipped. I looked at him and he looked at me, his dark eyes growing wide and he looked back at the rest of the members, who looked down at us with horror.
I hated it.
Without thinking, I began to move towards the hill, my bare feet digging into the sand with each step I take. I was only halfway there when Jin began freaking out once again, shaking his head as he waved his hands frantically. "No, no! Don't do it-"
"I'm coming to get you guys!"
"Bayley, the snake-!"
Namjoon's words were cut off by my scream. I felt pain run down my leg and I knelt to the sandy floor as I clutched my foot. I felt blood slip through my fingers and onto the sand, coating it red with each drop of the thick liquid. Raquel, Maya, and the guys rushed to me and I was led back to the bottom of the dunes. They put me down and I saw the bite.
Damn, it got me pretty bad!
There were two rows of bite marks on each side of my ankle and it was bleeding. Everyone began to panic, especially Hobi. Maya and Raquel walked away, leaving me and the guys alone. The other members were being calm, but my poor little sunshine was on the brink of hysterics. "Bad! This is bad!" He exclaimed, looking at my ankle and then back at me with glistening eyes.
Oh no.
Oh no.
"Hobi, don't!" I warned, grasping his hand. "I'll be fine, I just need to go to the hospital-"
"I don't think so."
We turned our heads and see Maya and Raquel walking back towards us. "Raquel called the doctor and I did some research." The blonde states and looks at Jin. "You saw the snake. What did you think it was? Do you know what it looked like?" The man in question gulped, taking in a shake breath before speaking. "I think it was a rattlesnake. It-It had dark patches on it, a-and it looked to have a light belly...?"
"Did you see the rattle?"
"I think so... But I didn't hear it."
The two girls looked at each other before Raquel began to speak. "It looks like a rattler, but you didn't hear one..." I was confused and was about to ask what they were talking about, but stopped when Maya showed us a picture of the snake.

"Is that the snake?" Jin's eyes went wide and nodded while pointing at the screen. "Yeah! That's the one!" Maya soon backed up and puts her phone away and began to speak once more, her voice more deep and tone more mature than how she acts. "That picture I showed you was not of a rattler. It was a bull snake. They make look like one, but it's really not. Their bite marks are much different than a rattler's. For a Rattlesnake, Cobra, or the Black Mamba, they have fangs that pump the venom into your veins. The Bull Snake, much like a Garter Snake or the Coachwhip, they have rows of teeth and no fangs. From what I searched, based on the bite marks, it's a common mistake for a Bull Snake to be compared to the Rattle Snake."
I, like everyone else, was at a loss for words, and after about a minute of silence, I began to speak. "So, in other words... I'm fine?"
"Yep!" Raquel said. "I explained the weird bite marks to the doctor and he said it wasn't poisonous. However, he did say that you gotta watch your step next time when we're back at the dunes."
I let out a small laugh and nodded. I saw Hobi let out a sigh of relief before putting his head on my shoulder. I smiled and leaned into him, giving him a small peck on the forehead.
Lesson of the day: Always watch your step when you're at the dunes.
