Sunlight filtered through the branches of the oak, birch, and maple trees that looked like they could touch the pale blue sky, dotting the forest floor with patches of it's rays. A light silver she-cat with a single white paw, blue eyes, and black ears and nose, lifts up her head and sniffs the crisp morning air, a odd but strong scent hits her.
Cat scent she thought by the smell of it, lots of cats, not just one. Crunch! Snap! "Wh-who's there?" the she-cat called out. No answer. What in the world was that? She asks herself.
"Magic! Spirit! Wake up!" A deep voice calls out.
Before she can do anything, the she-cat feels something jabbing into her side, she wakes up with a jolt. Sun filtered through a hole in the dead tree stump where she made her den with her sister, who she could visibly see her sister's white pelt with very light gray tabby markings, against the dark brown bark of the stump on the other side of the den, rising and falling as she slept. The she-cat looked up to see her older brother, a dark gray tom with amber eyes looking down at her.
"What do you want?" she asked quietly not wanting to wake her sister.
"What do you think, Magic?" her brother meowed, "or have you forgotten?" he adds before she could respond.
"I didn't forget, vole-brain!" She hissed softly "I just don't like being woken up!" Magic gets up and stretches, flexing her muscles that were stiff from the cold morning air.
"I'll get Spirit up, Shadow" She adds as her brother heads out of the den. Magic walks to the other side of the den, then bends down and nudges Spirit's muzzle with her nose, "wake up, Spirit!" she meows quietly.
Spirit moans and opens her eyes slightly, they were blurred with sleepiness. "What?" she asks sleepily.
"It's time to get up" Magic replied, then she added sadly "this may be the last time we hunt and sleep together.." Spirit just purred and touch Magic's muzzle with her nose, "everything will be fine." She meows gently. Spirit sat up and stretched, then licking one of her forepaws she drew it over her ears a couple of times. While her sister groomed herself, Magic went out of the den and narrowed her eyes into slits against the glare of the sun.
Nice day for hunting... she thought.
When her eyes finally adjusted to the light Magic looked around and spotted their father Scourge, a black tom with a single white paw like Magic, blue eyes, and a kittypet collar with dog teeth and cat claws studding it.
"Finally!" Meowed her brother, Shadow who was sitting beside their father. Magic walked up to them with Spirit a couple paw-steps behind her, when she looked at her father's gaze she saw sadness in their blue depths, but there was proudness there too.
"It's time" Scourge meowed "time to go out and find a new home, and find then fulfill your destinies." His voice cracked as he spoke, but they couldn't blame him.
When she was only a few moons old, they had lost their mother, Mothshine, she was a white tabby with black markings and amber eyes. She was killed when a male rouge broke into the den Scourge tried to save her, but the gash in her shoulder was deep and it soon got infected. After she passed their father taught them about the world and its dangers.
She'd be proud of us...and Scourge, Magic thought. That night they hunted and shared tongues one last time, then they want their separate ways. I'll miss them, they meant the world to me... Magic thought sadly, will I ever see them again? Giving her head a shake, she headed into the night.
