"Shadowclaw!" Magicpaw wailed, she watched as a rogue tom broke into the den. "Mother!" Mothshine stood over her. Her mother's white and black tabby pelt bristled with rage, a growled rumbled deep in her throat. Magicpaw trembled under her mother's belly, Shadowclaw and Spiritfur stood in front of her, also willing to die to protect their youngest sister. Mothsine slashed out a forepaw claws unsheathed, ranking the tom's nose. The tom yowled and bit into her mother's neck, biting hard he tore skin.
"No! Mother!" Magicpaw wailed in terror as she watched, helpless, as the rogue tore open her neck blood spilling everywhere.
"No!" with a yowl of rage and fury Scourge leaped at the rogue biting into his neck getting him to let go of his mate. Mothshine stood over her kits breathless and her teeth bared in a snarl at the rouge as Magicpaw's father wrestled with the rouge.
"Father!" Magicpaw yowled, she woke up with a jolt trembling. Deadpaw was beside her. He licked her ear soothingly, "everything is okay." He whispered. Magicpaw laid her head down, she was in the Medicine cats' den.
"Our warrior ceremony!" Magicpaw whimpered, "I haven't missed it have I?" Deadpaw purred.
"Nope, I didn't want to get my warrior name before you were better. We both worked so hard to get this far and it didn't seem right to not get out warrior names together." Deadpaw nuzzled her cheek gently, Magicpaw tried to sit up but with a gasp of pain she fell back into her nest, he started to groom her fur gently.
"It's alright, you need to rest." Deadpaw told her gently. Magicpaw let out a soft whimper, she hated staying still when her clan needed her to hunt, fight, and patrol, suddenly she remember the fight at sunningstones.
"Did we win?" she croaked. Deadpaw nodded, he growled. "I wish I was there to help you." Magicpaw purred, it could be annoying that Deadpaw wanted to protect her so much, like a newborn kit is protected by its mother, but she couldn't be mad at him. Spottedpaw padded into the medicine den.
"How you feeling?" she asked as she set down some herbs. Magicpaw sniffed them. Chamomile...and borge...what's that other herb? Magicpaw sniffed again. Marigold! "I brought you some herbs for your wounds." Spottedpaw explained.
"Chamomile, borge and marigold?" Magicpaw asked. Spottedpaw eyes lit up with surprise.
"Yes, how do you know?" she asked Magicpaw.
"Well...erm..I guess just by memory?" Magicpaw stammered.
"Well, you sure do have great memory!" Spottedpaw replied. "Do you know what Huckleberries look like?"
Huckleberries? Magicpaw thought. Don't they relieve muscle pain? "They're blueberries aren't they?" Magicpaw asked. "And they relieve muscle pain, don't they?" She added.
Deadpaw purred, "I hope you're not planning on becoming a medicine cat!" Magicpaw rubbed her muzzle against his, purring.
"It's good to know some herbs in case of an emergency!" Spottedpaw joined in on their purring. "Well, I better get this polutic on your wounds. The sooner the better!" Spottedpaw chewed the herbs into a polutic and started dressing Magicpaw wounds.
"Sleep well, Magicpaw." Deadpaw licked her ear gently, and she snuggled closer to him. Drifting into sleep, she purred.
