She awoke suddenly, every ray of light and every sound that surrounded her attacked all senses. She overslept. She rubbed her eyes, trying to fix the sense's traffic. The sunshine beaming through her bare room annoyed her. She sighed, somehow wishing she never woke up. Mad at the world that she must live another day. Every breath she took felt wrong, every deep breath she breathed she regretted deeply. Not having the guts to take her own life and how the world hasn't killed her already angered her. She was trapped here in this despicable world. As if she is sinking to the bottom of an endless ocean, the freedom too far to grasp. Drowning in her own tears, her pain, her own mistakes.
No.
She pushed the thought away, as if she mentally grabbing in and throwing it so far it never came back. She did not kill herself because she believed in liberty. Imagine it as a war, a mental war she needs to win. But first she needs to win this physical war and mental war.She sat up rubbing her swelling face, her arms dropped to the bed as she peered into her room. It was basically bare. Having an old dark green bed that creeked everytime she moved placed on the back middle wall. There were boxes filled with her school books and text books, and the other side stood a brown mahogany desk. Athenas cupboard was occupied with her mother's clothes so her clothes folded neetly in piles in the corner of her room. She slid out of bed, "its Saturday."
There was a tap on her window.
She felt her soul jump out her skin, seeing a familiar face in the window. There stood, Elijah standing ontop the roof that stood below her window.--------
She panicked. He can't be here.... Not only is here house dangerous, she looks like crap. She over thought as embarrassment raised to her cheeks. He tapped again, and that cocky smile crept on his face. She sighed and wobbled to the window and raised her eyebrow at him. He laughed to himself as he lifts a plastic bag up. She shook her head and he shook the bag a bit and attempted to give puppy eyes.
She huffed and opened the window, "your trying to get yourself killed Elijah," Athena snapped "what are you doing?!"
"wow, not even a hello." He smirked "I brought breakfast" he shook the bag again. Athena stood aside slowly and folded her arms uncomfortably. He stepped inside and his smirk dropped looking around the room. The grey mattress on the left corner, with small thin blankets and not even a pillow, instead she used her own clothes as one. In the left corner sat very little baby supplies, some nappies and powered milk. Under the window on the right side was the window she climbed in which had a pile of school books and sketches and next to it was a small amount of clothes neatly folded.
He shook it off and looked up at Athena, who stood silently with her arms crossed looking at him. His heart ached. Seeing a girl who could barely have energy to move, her cheekbones protruding out her face. Her legs buckling in and her bony hands shaking slightly. Her stomach started to swell, due to extreme protein deficiency. Her long bangs hiding her gorgeous eyes as she looked down at her feet. What hurt him the most was the gap. The space between her thighs, so white an array of stars could reside there
There was a long pause..." she is going to die." He thought to himself
Elijah took his shoes off and sat on the floor, opening his blue back and setting down a bottle of milk, cereal in a plastic bag, two plastic bowls and spoons
He looked up, "Dinner, is served!" he said presenting the food on the floor. Athena sat opposite him, watching him pour too bowls of cereal, with milk.
She picked up the spoon and started it in awe. Food.
Her tongue started to salivate, and she scooped the cookie cereal up and placed it into her mouth. Her body gave a wave of relief. As she chewed she felt her enzymes individual spark and get to work, her eyes widened, and a small smile grew on her lips. "Thank you." She whispered. "for what?" Elijah asked. "We can't- "he looked around and whispered even more "leave if you're weak like this...you need to be healthy and fit - "
"I know but- "
"we have no clue what's out there, it's unknown. Everything here is so artificial. The food, to the plants, our first step of this plan is to get you sorted out."
"my mums pregnant," blurted Athena, "I have no idea what to do....s-she isn't okay, every night is like hell." she stopped herself mumbling, Elijah merely blinks clear that he didn't not hear the last bit, and tilted his head in confusions.
"Don't worry." blurted Athena.
By the look on Elijah face, it was clear he was thinking deeply. Taking another spoonful of cereal, "a baby, taking a vulnerable baby to somewhere we know nothing about..." he trailed one. " but hey, we'll sort something out"
"All three of us"
