Today goes by slow. I sleep in until Mom wakes me up, which was at ten o'clock. I wanted to desperately go back to bed and curl up into a ball and pretend that I don't exist for the rest of my life. Sadly, I was literally pulled out of bed, so here I am sitting on the couch texting Luke.

Mom walks in. "I warmed up some pizza."

I continue texting. Luke has never heard of The 1975, so I'm filling him in on how much he's missing out on. We've been texting about it since I was kicked out of my room.

"Brinley," Mom says. "Pizza."

"Hold on." I wait for the bubbles at the bottom of the screen, meaning Luke is typing, to turn into a message.

As soon as he sends it and I read his text, Mom sighs loudly.

"Who are you even talking to?" She asks, exasperated.

I don't look up. "No one."

She gives up and spins on her heel, exiting the room.
