Adrianna woke up before the sun rose and got dressed. She wasn't really a fan of sleeping in, she preferred to take a walk in the woods and then sit on a rock to read a book and just enjoy being alone and listening to the sounds of the forest in the morning.

She made a sandwich, went outside and took a deep breath. The air was warm even though it was so early in the morning. Oh how Adrianna loved summer, it was the best season, obviously, because you could swim in the lake. Of course she could swim in a indoor swimming pool, but she didn't like it because it made her feel trapped and the smell of the pool, oh that smell, was awful.

She started walking towards the woods occupied in a daydream. Suddenly she tripped and her face was in a little puddle of mud. Who the hell put that stone there? Well, isn't this just great.. Oh my god I'm so clumsy, Adrianna thought to herself. At moments like this she was happy that she was home schooled. Imagining herself in a school, doing clumsy things all the time and having a lot of people around watching her do that didn't sound too pleasant. Why was she so clumsy? Her whole life she had had that little voice in her say You don't belong here. But if she didn't belong here, where did she belong? She just couldn't understand that voice in her head put she also had that little feeling in her stomach at times that confirmed what the voice told her. Usually she just pushed that feeling away thinking it was only her mind playing games.

She got up and wiped the mud out of her face with the back of her hand. Eww. Irritated and embarrassed even though no one had seen her, she continued walking in to the forest and ran up some cliffs to get to the top. At least I didn't trip now. Heavily breathing after the little climb she looked at the beautiful view. All you could see was endless amounts of trees everywhere you looked. Adrianna opened the book that she had brought with her which was a fantasy book. Luckily it hadn't gotten any mud on it from the fall. Adrianna loved fantasy books, magic and mysterious unexplained things. She could sit and read fairy tales for hours to escape reality. She wasn't quite sure if she believed in magic 100% but it was too depressing to not believe at all.

After she'd read for a few hours she climbed down the cliffs and started walking back home. When she got to the forest edge she stopped abruptly and stared. Lindsey was sitting on the edge of the bridge with her side profile towards Adrianna and it looked like she talked to somebody. What is she doing? Lindsey didn't usually wake up at this time on a Sunday. Adrianna crept forwards, she tried to be as quiet as she could and not to step on any sticks. As she got closer she thought she saw two dark creatures in the water looking up at Lindsey. Suddenly one of the creatures looked straight at Adrianna. She gasped a little too loud and both of the creatures dived. Lindsey turned her head and saw Adrianna standing there paralyzed. "Adrianna it's very rude to spy on people. I raised you better than this." Lindsey said and you could hear a tone of panic in her voice. "Mum I'm sorry, but what were those dark creatures?" Adrianna asked with her voice shaking a little. "What are you talking about dear?" Lindsey said casually. "But I-I saw that you were talking with them." Adrianna said. "I have no idea what you are talking about, I was just sitting there enjoying a beautiful morning. You must have had a sunstroke. Come inside and have a glass of water" Lindsey said looking at Adrianna with a worried face. Lindsey walked up to Adrianna, put a hand on her back and led her inside the house.

Adrianna could not believe this. She HAD seen those creatures, she was sure of that and her mum pretended that it didn't happen. What is going on?
