The ride was silent. Pixis was too in pain to rest, and the others were too worried to relax. Even at the Sakamaki Manor, the brothers anxiously took to their business; waiting for their arrival.
Yuma easily lifted the neko out of the limo once they made it. He followed after his brothers, his eyes never leaving Pixis' now pale face.
He smiled softly. "I'm not going anywhere, Giant. I can barely move." He grumbled, looking back at the vampires brown eyes. His smile grew at the quiet 'tch' he got in return.
Yuma looked away, watching the six brothers make their way to the door. "How bad has it gotten?" Laito was the first to speak up.
"I don't think he can really walk on his own." Kou answered, turning to look at the neko. Everyone stood in brief thought, before Reiji turned to the stairs.
"Alright, follow me to this room. Whoever is willing to help, come with me. This might need more than just Ruki and I." A fair amount, if not all of them, quickly made their way upstairs to what seemed to be a huge common room, with several places to sit and several tables.
Yuma set Pixis down on the couch closest to the desk that seemed to be used by Reiji. He wrapped him in the blanket then stood up straight, looking down at him.
"No, no. I'm cold." Pixis whined, though the words barely came out. Yuma stood almost too embarrassed to sit back down with him or pick him up, so he just stepped away. Though in no time, Shu had teleported to the large couch and wrapped himself around the smaller boy. Not only could he be protective of the neko this way; he could also sleep. He was also contributing to help, in his own sort of way.
Reiji was quick to look over the desk and the books laid out upon it. Ruki joined him, along with Ayato, Kou, Laito, and Yuma. The others were scattered amongst the area.
"I was reading some old books; only few possibilities came up. It's really nothing much." Reiji rambled on, flipping through specifically marked pages with his brothers.
There were few arguments, no actual yelling. They were all set on a mission. Too concerned to get caught up in other things.
Though there was a brief moment .. where they all seemed to stop. Seemed to think the same thing.
Why is this so important to me? Why is he so important to me?
There was a silence. A quick glance from Laito to Ayato. Then from them to the neko who was softly batting his lashes as he tried to fight sleep.
Was this really supposed to be their concern at this time of day? [Yes, day.] At all, really? It was unexpected, and definitely felt short notice.
"My mother always told me.." Pixis whispered in the questionable silence. "She said not to get hit with too many darts. It's only been..." He took a pause to cough. "A couple times. I'm sure I should be fine."
"Well you obviously aren't. Did she ever elaborate?" Ruki asked as everyone's eyes made their way to the boy.
"No..just something that had to do with our family. But our family never belonged to anyone important.." He started, not actually sure about the statement. His face gave away he was unsure as well. "If it was a big deal I don't think you'd be able to find it anywhere."
He spoke too much then. He was tired. His eyes drooped as his low gaze met Shu's.
"You're obsessed with nekos, you don't have like a book or anything that we could look at." Yuma groaned, looking at Kou. He was desperate at this point, as were the others.
Kou shrugged before walking towards the door. "I'll be back. Watch over my kitten." He said before disappearing. There were a few eye rolls at the remark.
Most of those eyes wandered to Pixis next, though they weren't happy with the sight. The sick boys' eyes were closed; a small smile on his lips. Shu was watching him closely, caressing his cheek with the pad of his thumb and catching every movement that came from the other. As he watched him, his headache only throbbed more.
This wasn't normal. How long had it been? It felt like two days yet six months. Hell, maybe even longer than that. He was telling himself not to care, but he just couldn't stop.
They all were, in fact.
It felt like a long time to Shu; watching and making sure Pixis was still breathing fine. Really, in no time, Kou returned with two books in hand.
"I found these, they've got past bloodlines in them. Maybe he's got a more known past than he thinks."
A couple of the guys quickly took to the books, skimming through the pages, looking for familiarities in features since ... they really knew nothing about his past. And it seemed neither did Pixis.
"Your family, was one side all silver coats?" Ruki asked, briefly looking from the book to realize Pixis was half asleep.
Ruki found himself almost smiling at the precious sight of him dozing off, but repeated the question once Shu called his name.
"Sorry...but yes. My mom had a silver coat. I never met my grandmother... but apparently she did too; as did all the women I believe. And I guess me too."
"Look at this." Kou said, almost excited. He grabbed the book from Ruki and laid the book on the desk, open to the page. A few of the brothers crowded around it, the others standing near and listening.
"But what's his surname?" "That's the only way to really now, because this could be a reach."
"Akunin." Pixis whispered. He knew what it meant. He despised the name often.
"I think it might actually be it. How didn't you know about this?" Ayato questioned, picking up the book and walking to Pixis. Shu sat up slowly and redirected the neko to look at the book.
He stared at the words for a bit, slowly making it out. "I don't understand...silver coats just have no natural protection against the sickness?"
"It seems so. Because of that, it was believed that others could catch this great sickness from you all and perish, so they labeled you rogue, or 'Akunin'." Reiji answered for his brother, setting the book down to now ponder a solution.
"So we cant fix it." Pixis sighed, looking down at his shaky fingers.
"No, I think we can. We just have to do more research and talk to more people, who know more about it. But we also don't have a lot of time." Ruki nodded in agreement at the statement, a few pledges to help being thrown in.
"But you should rest now. We have to go to night school, but you can stay here if you want."
"No, no. Don't leave me.." Pixis pleaded quietly, quickly looking up at Laito. "Of course I can stay with you, neko-chan—"
"No. He can come with us." Shu butt in, shooting a glare towards his brother.
"Then who will he stay with?" "Someone who won't try to rape him while he can't move." Subaru scoffed at his half brother.
"Hey, guys calm down... Subaru since you wanna be an ass—" sneeze "—wipe, then I'll go with you. I just don't want to be alone." Pixis said, trying his best to glare but only looking miserable.
"N-No...Go with Kanato or something." He snapped, quickly leaving the room; claiming he needed to get ready.
"I can't hold him and Teddy." Kanato shot back. "Make one of the impure ones do it."
"They got to do it last time. Ore-sama can take over now. Get out, get out." He said, shooing everyone away. The Mukami's soon left to their mansion to get ready.
Ayato carried the small neko to his room, setting him on his bed. He tucked him under more blankets for the time being. When he noticed his eyes were closed, he smiled softly then turned away to his closet.
He changed into his uniform and turned back to the neko to find him smirking weakly; a mischievous giggle bubbling in his throat. Ayato glared, reaching the neko and quickly picking him back up into his arms.
"You can't just take a peek at Ore-sama." "Yes I can." They bickered down the hall, making it to the limo.
"I hate you." "You don't." Pixis reassured, snuggling into his chest.
