Dave's POV

I was excited to see Ruby. I wanted to see her beautiful face and her smile. She makes me feel so different in a good way. I only met her for two days now and she was already driving me crazy. I wanted to spend more time with her and learn more things about this woman even if nobody thinks it's right in their eyes.

For this date, I made some food and brought a blanket so we can have a picnic in my front yard.

I parked the car and ran to Thomas's school so I can meet her. I stopped and spotted her hugging her brother goodbye. She was such a loving person who really cares about her family. She turned and saw me, she walked towards me. "Hi" She smiled. I could see she put a little bit of makeup and a nice dress that didn't show so much of her beautiful body that she hides.

"Hey, beautiful" I smiled back. We walked to my car. I open the passenger seat car door for her then went into the driver's seat. I started the car and began to drive.

"Where are we going this time?" She asked. I looked at her, her head was out of the car window, feeling the breeze while closing her eyes.

"We are going to have a picnic" I replied.

She gave a little laugh. "Wow, a picnic!". I was happy she was excited.

We were finally at my house. I laid a blanket on the grass with the basket of sandwiches. I sat down on the blanket, I grabbed her hand so she can sit down next to me close.

"I like your dress," I said to her.

"Thank you, I tried doing my makeup for the first time too" She brought her hands to her face showing me what she did, she looked so cute. "I only did a little bit"

I grab her hand and held it in my hand. "It looks good," I said.

"Thanks" She said shyly.

"What's your job?" I asked.

"I work in hair salon" she sighed in sadness.

"You don't like it?" I questioned.

"It's ok, it's just not something I always wanted to be doing" She replied.

"What did you want to be?"

"When I was younger I always wanted to travel to New York to work at the NAACP so I could help people like me to get the right justice they deserve"

The way she was talking about her dreams made me feel horrible. "You couldn't full fill your dreams because you had to help your family?"

"yes, so Thomas can have a future and maybe Full fill my dreams." I stared into her eyes while she looked at mine. I intertwined our fingers together, her gaze dropped down to our hands. "What's your job?" she asked.

"My dad has a business, so I just work for him in New Jersey"

"You've lived in New Jersey your whole life?" she questioned.

"No I stayed here in that house since I was around maybe 8 years old then moved to New Jersey, I'm guessing you stayed her since you were born right?."

"Yes, born and raise" she sighed in sadness.

"And you don't like here," I said as a statement to myself.

"I hate it here" She corrected me.

"Why don't you move?" I asked.

"We can't afford a lot of things" she replied.

"What's a place you've always wanted to go?" I asked her.

There was silence for her to think "I want to go to a place where every race, every skin color can be treated equally."
