HANDLE WITH CARE
5. Don't Dream It's Over.
L U K E
Why did Luke agree to this? Probably because it was Annie wanting to spend time with him. Or, more like, his therapist wanting to help him.
His brother was currently walking him to the coffee shop where he had planned to meet Annie. It was a Thursday evening and he was certain the shop closed soon, but he didn't mind.
Even if he was only spending a little time with Annie it would be better than none. But then again, he did have this heavy weight on his chest and this banging in his head as he noticed the lingering stares of a group of girls in the corner of the shop.
He rushed his way to where Annie was perched, book in one hand and hot chocolate in the other. She had these round metal-framed glasses on which made her nose look cuter and her eyes look bigger. They had steamed slightly at the bottom from the heat of her drink, she didn't seam to mind though as she continued to read. Luke had never seen her with glasses before, but he liked it, she looked comfortable and like someone who didn't have a care in the world.
She looked like girlfriend material, meaning she looked as though luke could complain about the pettiest things and she'd listen. Meaning he could tell her his deepest thoughts and his darkest fears and she'd listen. Meaning that sometimes, when luke was feeling low, she would be the big spoon in bed and make him feel protected and safe. She would do all that for Luke because she loved him; in this alternate universe.
"Call me when you want picking up," Jack spoke, patting his brothers back before leaving the shop, the jingle of the bell alerting Annie. She gazed up, slotting the bookmark on the given page before closing it and placing it on the small table.
"Hello," she tilted her glasses down, making sure its Luke before speaking, then taking them off. She placed them back in their case before giving Luke her full attention. "I have somewhere to take us, if you don't mind a little walk." She stood herself up, swinging her handbag over her shoulder and wrapping a scarf loosely to her neck.
Luke swallowed thickly, unsure if this outing would be overly public or private, but both scared him to shivers, which he played out to be the cold breeze. He held the door open for her, following swiftly next to her.
"Will it be busy? Like- will their be a lot of people?" He breathed, the hot air blowing against Annie's face as he stuffed his hands in his coat pockets.
He tried a little this time, wearing a nice-ish coat and some pants, along with kind of styling his hair behind his ears. Admittedly it had grown out but He, himself had grown to like it.
It was still just below ear length like it was for the third world tour, but a little curlier and sometimes a little greasier.
"No, it shouldn't be too busy, and if it happens to be we can always go somewhere else." She smiled up at him, and it was the first time he had noticed the few freckles on her nose and some under her eyes.
With her saying that he felt a lot calmer, needless to say she was a very calming person. If Luke believed in the whole 'aura' of a person thing then he would 100% believe Annie's aura was tranquility.
She was hope too; in the fact that she had chosen to be so for the majority of her life. And their was no doubting she helped people other than her clients, like an old lady struggling to carry bags or a beggar on the streets.
Luke admired her attributes and traits, he wished people would think the same about him. He assumed they didn't think the same, they probably pitied him now, forgot what he was really like.
