                                                                              Lily's POV

I have never felt so guilty before, I knew I had upset Mikey more than I had ever upset anyone in my lifetime.

I took my phone from the charger cable and hoped for a message to pop up when I turned it on. 5 seconds went past, and nothing. Mikey hadn't text me with his loving curiosity. No one was interested.

I signed onto facebook, no new messages. No comments on my wall nothing. I knew I had upset him this time.

I blasted John Mayer-Shadow Days from my Ipod speakers, and wrapped myself in my duvet. I didn't want to eat, drink or anything. I had felt so guilty. Mikey had done nothing wrong to me, and all I did was judge his actions like the rest of the school did.

                                                                              Mikeys POV

I woke up due to the sound of blaring music, forgetting I was deaf 12 hours ago, I climbed into my Grey joggers, and a Burgundy tshirt, smoothed my hair down with my warm hands, and put my phone in my pocket.

I walked downstairs, slowly, trying not to make the stairs creek, as I came closer to downstairs I heard shouting. It was obvious who it was, mum and dad, and then I remembered, Dad was gone. I carried on running down the 5 stairs that lead me to just outside the kitchen. Turning myself around the corner to face the archway of the kitchen I saw the most beautiful dressed woman crying in the corner of the room.

Mum, I gasped for breath and ran upto her, taking her into my arms, kissed her cheek and whispered 'What's wrong?' Her face was red, worn out and stressed.

"It's your Uncle, Uncle Joe? remember him?" mother questioned me, she calmed herself down, wiped her eyes and hugged me back.

"Yes, why?" I replied. I was the man of the house now, since dad died, I had to protect mother from anyone who tried to hurt her like Dad did. Mother was weak from the bruises and cuts dad caused her, she was fragile now, and although she protected Charlie and I, I had to protect her too.

"He's blaming me for your father's death. It's only been a year, I'm still weak Mikey, I can't cope." she cried.

I got hold of her shoulders, turned her to me, kissed her forehead, and cradled her face in the palms of the my hands. "Of course you can cope, you weren't there when father died, no one has the right to blame you, and Uncle Joe is hurt for dad's death, don't listen to him. Be strong, you have to be for us." I whispered.

"Where's Charlie?" I remembered there were no sounds of banging toys, or crying, our house was quiet, just the painful sounds of mother trying to grasp her breath back, and the CD trying to find another track to play, since it had finished.

"At Grandma's" she grabbed hold of my hand and kissed my cheek. "Your hearings back" she smiled. "I knew it would be, no more sign language my boy. I am so proud of you." she wrapped her arms around my waist, and held me tight.

I loved her. So much. I've never asked anything from her, and now I ask her to stay strong, for Charlie and I, mostly for herself.

                                                                                      Lily's POV

The echoing sound of the house phone tried to cover out the noise of my music. I pressed pause and ran downstairs, to try answer it before the ringing stopped.

"Hello?" I said.

"Hiya honey, it's mum, can you hear me?" She replied.

I didn't want to. I didn't want to hear her. She was a pain, a nightmare.

"Yes. What do you want?" I slurred.

I didn't need her here, I could cope without her, besides the fact I needed to go shopping.

"Be polite. I'm staying another two days. I've transferred another fifty pound into your bank account, no parties remember. Lily, I do love you, you know?" she said.

"I love you. Your just annoying, self-centered, annoying, irritating, annoying, but yeah I love you too." I replied.

I could hear muffling, she was crying, she does this when she wants attention, she always does.

"I don't mean to be you know? I just find it hard to talk to you when your horrible to me." she cried.

"You have made me this way mum, just be nicer to me." I asked.

I heard my phone jingle with the annoying tone of a text message.

"I have to go, Love you" I screeched and then hung up.

I took my phone out my pocket and read the text message Mikey had sent me: What you doing today?

I smiled, he'd finally text me, I was so happy. I replied: Off shopping to Morrisons, you? I'm sorry btw.

I turned to the fridge to see if there was at least a snack I could munch on before I got dressed, nope.

My phone vibrated on the kitchen counter, I looked and Mikey was calling me. I frowned and answered.

"Hello?" I shouted, "I'm here Lily." I gasped. He could hear! I screamed and dropped my phone.

It was amazing, bless him!

"Sorry dropped the phone, there was um..a rat." I laughed.

"I bet there was, I'm off shopping too, come with me and my mum? We'll pick you up. I love you Lily, be there in half an hour." he said, and then hung up.

Okay, so running on laminate floor wasn't the brightest idea, falling down on my backside wasn't good either. I got up ran up the stairs faster than i've ran before, and sorted myself out.

Mikey wanted me to go with his mum, and him shopping. That wasn't something you do everyday, so today I tried making myself looking abit more special.

Grabbing the black maxi dress my mother bought me, I pulled it over my shoulders, ran straighteners through my hair and put my converse on. My hair was long now, it always grew fast, I covered my lips with pink lipstick and stroked my eyelashes with mascara.

Put my purse and the money my mother gave me in my clutch bag,and waited by the front door.
