Loneliness

The concrete buildings and the windows glowing yellow

The stone steps, the skateboarder, the wanderer

I watch.

The two walk together; a distance undetermined

The bicyclist pauses then reenters the street; the continuum.

Windows are invariably lit up.

Why?!

I can see the exit signs in some windows; a red glow surrounded by shallow darkness.

The horns bicker and the sirens wail

A melancholy tune echoes amongst the buildings and enters my room.

The sky is overcast but the light of the moon prevails.

Another skateboarder leaves my sights

The streetlights annoy

The engines continue

The pedestrians have liberty.

Locked rooms and glass contain me.

How are you?

Do you think of me?

Why the f*** can I not go to sleep?

All I can do is think of you.

Sleep evades me and fate does not play fair.

I see the computer screens

I see the clocks

Through the windows.

This view is so lonely

Without you.

My mind is so lost without

The knowledge

That you're alright.

The singer mourns

Her song is confined to these concrete buildings.

Existential sh** at 3:19 in the morning.
