Cloud Cover

WTF?!

I am looking at the moon in all of its glory

When, suddenly, the clouds rush by and cover it.

You know,

I had a great night planned for us.

Well, now the clouds have blotted out the moon

And a few other things as well.

It's so dark, but in my mind's eye

I can see

You.

Your buzz cut looks great, you know.

I didn't always think that,

Remember?

Who knew?

Your skin.

So pale.

What rock have you been hiding under?

No?

It wasn't a rock, well, I guess that's just me.

Oh, yeah, that makeshift gym of yours.

Your eyes.

What a deep brown.

It's like the ocean

A deep so immeasurable.

Sometimes,

When your pupils are dilated

They look black

When a glance turns to a stare.

A stare that we shared,

That meant so much

That only we knew.

Your lips.

So 'awesome' and understanding.

Patient.

Now, you ask me, what do you mean?

Just like you used to, but

I know

You know.

Your arms and your hands.

I hate to group these together, but I

Feel like I'm rambling.

Your arms were of steel.

Seriously, Superman is overrated.

Your hands.

Oh, how I loved your hands.

Rough, calloused, dry, cracked.

Warm.

Tonight, you cradle my hands in yours to warm them up.

My hands are always freezing, I say.

You hold my hands, tight.

You look at me with a worried expression.

You say that its time to go back inside.

You don't want me to get sick.

You know how cold it can get in November.

Closely, we walk back inside.

You know, the moon is still bright and beautiful

These lonely nights.

It's just farther away,

And so are

You.
