The ultimate sacrifice

I sat across from Jughead in the old wooden table that stayed in the dining room. When he picked up the phone and started to dial Penny's number. The grim look on his face caused my stomach to churn but I was going to do this. For Jughead. For the serpents.

"We have to stop this, " I told Jughead after he explained to me what was going to happen. Jughead nodded slowly I could practically see the wheels churning in his head. "Jug, " I whispered he looked up at me slowly. "Maybe if we give ourselves up to Hiram this would all end right? I mean the offer was to keep his name out of the article, he just wants us silenced," I said slowly getting quieter. Absolutely not am I letting you sacrifice yourself if anyone sacrificing themselves it will be me, " I softly sighed and shook my head. "Hiram is not stupid he knows if your gone I will still continue your article doing my best to expose him... Jughead we have too, " his serious face slowly transformed into a sad one when he finally nodded. I grabbed his hand and rubbed my thumb over his knuckles reassuringly. "We're gonna be fine, " I whispered. "Because like everything we do, " Jughead said waiting for me to finish. "We're doing it together," a small smile appeared on his face and he nodded again.

"It's done we have to meet her now, " I nodded slowly my mind processing everything that I was about to do. We walked out the door and I sat on the back of the bike he drove to a random location and then we stopped. He pulled out his phone and clicked a few buttons before pressing it out his ear.

I did the same dialing Sweat Pea's number. I pressed it to my ear and waited for him to answer. "A.J.?" he questioned through the phone. "Sweat Pea... I'm happy to hear your voice, " I whispered feeling the lump in my throat get bigger. "Remember I love you and I always will and I always have, " I told him. I heard Jughead tell Betty something along those lines.

I will never stop loving you.

"What are you saying A.J.? Where are you? " I could hear Toni's voice ask where I was too.

I blinked away the tears threatening to fall. "I'll see you soon, " me and Jughead whispered to our worrying lovers and hung up. I looked forward and we started to walk towards Penny sitting on and old couch smirking. 

Malachai walked out followed by the rest of the ghoulies in strange costumes holding bats. I gasped and Jughead grabbed my hand  "Hiya princess," Malachai said sarcastically.I could hear Penny say some words but I wasn't listening Sweat Pea's face kept flashing in my mind.

I could feel the first hit and the next but it didnt compare to the flashes of the faces of all of my friends and my family. "To bad your sacrifice will be for nothing, " Penny's words stung but I couldn't take anytime to process them before I passed out.

While Jughead and A.J. are passed out
Sweat Pea stormed up to F.P. scared for his girlfriend. "F.P. where is-" he was cut off by a ring from F.P.'s phone.  "Hold on, " he pulled his phone to his ear and Betty's voice rang out.  "F.p.? " she asked.  "Betty how are you and your mom, " he said putting away a few things.  "We're good but F.P. where is Jughead, " he sighed grinning at his son's girlfriend's worry. "He's at the trailer with A.J. why? " he asked. 

"Because he just called me and told me he loved me and it just it sounded like he was saying goodbye, " his grin turned solemn quick.  "Okay thanks Betty I'll check, " he hung up and looked at Sweat Pea. "You were gonna ask where A.J. was weren't you?" Sweat Pea replied with a quick nod and looked at Toni.

"Where did Penny hideout when she had you? "

Sweat Pea's p.o.v.

The roar of the engine of my bike didn't calm me like it should.  We headed down a street following Toni's bike to where Penny's hideout is.  I remember when she told me she had been getting messages from Malachai and it only made me push harder on the gas.

We eventually got to the place. It was a opening in the middle of the woods.  A fire was lit and surrounding it were some worn couches. F.P. looked at the trees and started to head towards while the rest of the group stayed back.  I took a step nervously then kept going him following him into the trees.  He looked over at me and nodded in respect I nodded back in reply not really knowing what to do and kept walking.

After a few more steps we came to another smaller opening. There right in the middle of it layed A.J. and Jughead.  I ran to A.J. and could feel the tears pouring out. I don't usually cry but someone had hurt princess.  My princess. 

I picked her up and noticed the red skin where her serpent tattoo was once.  And I could feel the anger.  I started to shuffle back to where we had come from.  F.P. stood next to me and walked with me.  I kept on having to stop to wipe my soaking wet eyes because the tears were making my vision blurry.

We came back to the original clearing and found everyone waiting. The chatters turned to distant whispers as I stared at my princess on the verge of death.
