Chapter 19

Hermes' POV

"What...I can't...I don't understand...huh?" Backing away from me she began to stutter out a response to my statement.

"I need you to come with me to stop a friend from dying. Can you do that?" As soon as I said that all hesitation seemed to drop. The sincerity in her eyes told me that she would come with me but I needed her to come now or there was a chance I wouldn't be able to save Aiden.

Jumping from my seat I grabbed her arm and dragged her out the front of the restaurant with her pulling against my grip the whole time.

"You can't just drag me out of here. What if someone comes looking for me? What about my job? You can't do this! HELP! He's crazy! HELP ME!"

Throwing her over my shoulder I ignored the crazy looks I was getting from all the people that were passing by us. Throwing them a sweet smile I continued to walk down the sidewalk to where I was when I first got here. Once we were away from most of the people I began to tell her everything.

"Listen this is going to sound insane but you need to know that I'm telling you the truth. What I'm about to say is completely and utterly true." Setting her down so that she could walk next to me I continued my story. She calmed down enough for me to trust her to simply walk beside us.

"My name is Hermes and I am known as the messenger god. I am here to bring you to your soul mate. The one person in all eternity that will stay with you and love you without fail." With the mention of a soul mate the confusion from her face dropped slightly.

"So let me get this straight. You're a mythical god that is here to bring me to my soul mate who will love me for the rest of time no matter what I do?" she stopped walking and was now standing in front of me with an unconvinced look on her face and her hands on her hips.

"Yes."

The laugh that escaped her lips was beautifully delightful. Bending over while clutching her stomach her laughter simply grew louder and louder. I didn't have the time for this; I had to bring her back to that warehouse so that Skye would meet her and all this foolishness could end.

"Stop! We have to go otherwise Aiden will die!" She sobered up quickly at the mention of someone dying.

"Who is this Aiden person?"

"He's the boyfriend of two brothers I know. He is an amazing person and because their brother hasn't found you yet he's gone slightly crazy and kidnapped him. We need to make it back in time to save him."

"Why would I want to be a soul mate to someone so ruthless?"

"He's not like that for real it's just that he's lost his way because he hasn't met you yet."

"Even if I did believe you I still don't think I'd want to go anywhere. Can't I just get a few minutes to thi-"
