Angie sat across the high-top table from her sister-in-law and sighed. "Babe, you need to have an adult beverage, relax, and try to take care of yourself. It takes time to heal when dicks dick us over!" At this, she tapped a long purple nail on Jenna's large margarita glass. "Drink your medicine!"
Jenna laughed as she pressed her red lips to the straw and imbibed some of the luscious, frozen mango cocktail. "It's helping already," she winked.
"See?" the other woman grinned. She absent-mindedly fluffed at her curly brunette locks as she glanced around the bar. She eyed a group of three young guys who were seated in a booth across the room and began batting her lashes coquettishly. The blonde caught her glance and smiled a gigantic, dorky smile, to which she turned away playfully and grinned at Jenna. "Hey, check out those guys over there."
Jenna tried very hard to play the whole 'looking without looking' game, and spotted a booth with three twenty-something dudes. Two brunettes sat on one side of the table, with a blonde across from them. The darker-haired guys had their backs to her, but the blonde was grinning, and he was cute in a completely offbeat kind of way. Turning back to Angie, she shrugged. "I see two brown heads covered by black hats, and a blonde dude who looks like a baby but has a cute smile."
"Right?" her sis-in-law nodded. "I like that smile too. You should go talk to him!"
"No way!" Jenna's eyes widened considerably. "I'm nursing my wounds, remember?"
Angie sighed and tipped her beer bottle toward the younger woman. "If you don't put yourself out there and meet new people, you'll be nursing those wounds for an infinitely longer length of time. Just think – this could be the dude that makes you forget the entire thing."
"I have a son," Jenna countered, unamused. "I'm not going to forget that asshole any time soon, and I'm not going home with some guy in a bar because he has a cute smile." She sipped from her margarita then and raised an eyebrow at Angie. "And, by the by, why are you scoping out random dudes in a bar when you are married to the best man that there is, hmm?"
Angie snorted and went back to absently fluffing her hair. "Your brother is the only man that's worth tolerating, and I love that son of a bitch," she grinned. "I kind of like my kid too!"
Jenna's smile spread to infectious levels at the thought of her niece. "How is my Bubbles?"
"She is spectacular and stinky as always," Angie beamed thinking of her daughter. "We've been thinking about putting her in daycare twice a week, just to kind of wet her feet socially and give me a bit of a break. Your brother is taking on more clients at work, and I feel like we're both exhausted trying to keep this schedule."
"Sure," Jenna nodded. "I get it! Trying to care for Christian and work from home has been awful. Thank god I was able to rent the apartment from Matt and Chelsea, and Chels helps out with the baby whenever she can or whenever I ask. She is literally a godsend!"
Angie sipped her beer and frowned. "How the fuck do you do it alone? Bri is fucking amazing and yet I'm exhausted."
