"Dad! Dad! Wake up!" Fletch peeled his sleepy eyes open to be faced by his son Mikey tapping him on the shoulder.
"What?" He asked groggily.
"It's Theo, he's wet the bed and now he's crying." The boy explained.
"Okay okay, I'm coming. Tell him Daddy's coming in just a second." Fletch told him and stretched his arms out tiredly. Mikey walked back to Theo's room, leaving his father in bed to wake up properly. "Ugh," He muttered under his breath. "Here we go again." But nothing could stop the smile creeping back onto his face as he thought about what they had confessed earlier that day.Fletch swung his legs out of his warm bed and let the chill of the air hit his bare arms. He was grateful that he had thought to put on long trousers tonight as the temperature in this early hour was bitingly cold. The father of four trudged across the landing to his youngest's room, clean bedding to hand and tried not to let his disgruntlement at being awaken so early show on his features.
"Hey son it's okay." He whispered as he crouched down in front of Theo who was stood in the middle of the room with his head in his hands.
"I'm sorry Daddy." He sobbed.
"Theo look at me sweetheart." He placed a finger on the underneath of his son's chin and tilted it up so he was looking into his eyes. "There's nothing to be sorry for. It was an accident. Everyone has accidents sometimes okay?" The child nodded sadly and his dad pulled him into a hug. "Now lets get you cleaned up eh?"
Fletch stood up and changed both Theo's pyjamas and his soaked bed.
"That's better now isn't it? Let's get back into bed now then."Theo climbed anxiously back into bed and let Fletch tuck him in and kiss him goodnight before he spoke up.
"Daddy...will you stay with me please?" He asked shyly.
" Of course, shuffle up then." The boy complied and made room for the nurse to lay beside him in the small single bed. A few minutes later, Fletch looked down to see a tiny Theo fast asleep with his head laid on his chest, rising and falling along with Fletch's chest. He lay watching his son sleep and let his mind wander. Of course it went straight back to Jac. I really need to tell her before I go insane and my dreams start mixing with reality, he thought as he laid as still as he could in his uncomfortable position.Fletch's mind conjured up a vivid image of the woman he was rapidly falling for as he laid beside his son. Her hair, now blonde and shorter than before she had left, hung perfectly around her shoulders and slightly flipped over to one side. Her medium height and skinny frame made her look small and fragile in her surgical scrubs. As well as being worried as hell about her, Fletch was partly relieved that she was confined to a hospital bed because it meant that she was resting and there was no way that she could push herself too far. But she was still so close to death. The amount of times that he had nearly lost her over the past year...he couldn't bare to lose her without her knowing the truth. It was decided. This time he was actually going to tell her. And it had to be now.
The man dug down into his pocket and retrieved his phone. He dialled Jac's number with the intention of leaving a voicemail on her switched off phone. It rang and rang until he heard her voice.
"Fletch?" She answered, confusion and worry filling her voice. "Is everything okay?"
"Oh yeah yeah, everything's fine. I didn't expect you to be awake..." He trailed off. This is going to be a whole lot harder now, he thought to himself. "I need to tell you something."A/N: arghhhh I hate this so much but I have no other ideas. I'm so sorry that y'all had to read this pile of trash.
