"Morningggg!" Fletch breezed into her room.
"What are you so happy about?" Jac asked with a smile as he sat down next to her bed.
"Well there's two reasons actually." He replied as she quirked an eyebrow.
"Go on?"
"Well first of all I may have bagged myself a beautiful girlfriend yesterday and the second, I just found that I can take her home this afternoon." He answered with a smirk.
"Oh who would she be?" Jac asked innocently.
"Now that would be telling." He leant in and kissed her lips gently."So."
"So?"
"Seeing as you are being discharged later, I wanted to ask you something..." Fletch began tentatively. "Can I take you home to mine for a few days, a week at most. You know, just to look after you while you get back on your feet?"
"Fletch..." Her eyes darted across his features, a scared look covering her own. "It's too soon, I can't. I'm sorry." The surgeon diverted her eyes down to look at her lap.
"Why Jac...sweetheart tell me why it's too soon? Please, just so I can understand what's scaring you so much?" He asked quietly and took her hand in his.
"The kids. It wouldn't be fair to them. If this went pear-shaped I mean. I've heard what both them and you have been through with their mother and Raf..." She trailed off, tears filling her eyes.
"But it's not going to go pear-shaped. Because we won't let it, will we?"
"No." She whispered.
"So what do you say then? Housemates for a week?"
"That would be lovely Mr Fletcher." She smiled through her tears and pulled him in for a quick kiss. "I'm sorry I doubted us."
"I love you Naylor, don't forget that." He replied and kissed her knuckles. "Right I'll be back later okay? Be good."
Jac watched as he walked to the door and blew her a kiss and then slipped out of the room.A few hours later just as the surgeon was finishing packing up her minimal stuff, Fletch waltzed back in.
"Ready to go home?" He asked and grabbed her bag and her hand.
"More than ever." She replied and walked slowly towards the door. Jac turned back to look at her empty room and mentally said goodbye with a prayer of never returning. The couple walked along the corridors towards the car park side by side until Frieda intercepted their paths.
"Yes Petrenko, what can we do for you?" Jac asked with a roll of her eyes.
"Off home now?" The Ukrainian asked with a smirk, her eyes flickering across to Fletch.
"Yep." Jac replied at the same time as the nurse said "Yep I'm taking my girlfriend home." Fletch earned himself an elbow to the ribs as she glared up at him. "Ow! Oh. Sorry. At least it'll get her off our cases though?" Ignoring him the surgeon turned back to Frieda.
"So the lucky cow was in our presence the whole time then?" She drawled and Jac rolled her eyes.
"Shut up Petrenko." She snapped. "And don't you dare say a word to Becky."
"Wait what? Am I missing something here?" Fletch asked dumbfounded.
"Nothing don't worry, come on let's go home." Jac replied and pushed him away down the corridor as Frieda laughed.
"I'll explain tomorrow." She called after them to which Jac replied with "No you won't."When they were finally sat in the front of Fletch's car, the nurse took her hand and turned to face her.
"Jac earlier...earlier when you said about home, you referred to it as home rather than my house yet before that when I asked you to stay you were so scared to say yes. Are you sure that the kids are the only reason you were reluctant? Because if it wasn't I want to help you get rid of this fear. I want you to be 100% happy with this." He asked, gesturing between their bodies with his free hand.
"It's just...I've never really done this before. And if I'm honest, it's all a bit faster paced than I expected. But it's okay, I'll adjust. You just need to give me time. I'm happy that I have you to look after me and to help me get better. But I just need to slow down and let my head catch up with my heart."
Fletch smiled and she quirked an eyebrow. "What?"
"You're finally talking to me. Properly I mean. Rather than bottling stuff up. You're being open. I like it." He explained.
"That because you make me feel safe." She whispered. "Now take me home Fletcher."A/N: I'm so sorry for taking so long to update. Happy now Maddie? I have no decent excuses except for I have had no inspiration or been in the mood to write lately. I guess this is kinda what I want to happen after Gaskell has taken the implant out of Jac. Hope you enjoyed it.
