Clarissa snapped her arm forward and watched as the dagger sliced through the air, embedding itself into the bullseye.
She knocked it out with another one. From the corner of her eyes she saw the small figure in the doorway as she threw another knife. She didn't say anything as Jonathan walked over to the wall and started to look at the thicker hunting knives displayed there.
He jumped up on the counter, only managing to carry three with his size.
He dropped down to the floor with a weightless grace and looked at Clarissa. She swung her body so her back was facing him as she let go of the last dagger and turned to catch the one flying for her head.
She smiled as she kicked the next one out of the air and caught the last one. She threw both daggers at the target, knowing where they would land without needing to watch.
Clarissa walked over to the sparring swords where her brother had moved to, holding two iron swords. He threw one to her as she stepped into the circle drawn onto the floor and looked into her brothers onyx black eyes that were a mirror image of her own.
She smiled to herself when he made the first move. Clarissa easily twisted to the right to dodge his slice and jabbed her own blade forth.
He parried but didn't fall for her distraction. When she kicked towards his shin, he bent his knee up and her foot landed below his leg. He sliced down with his sword and kicked towards her knee at the same time.
Clarissa jumped back and Jonathan moved forward. She barley managed to raise her sword to block his stab. Their swords screeched against each other till they locked.
Both siblings moved back at the same time. Clarissa swung forward and Jonathan lunged, his sword striking down with lightning speed. She narrowly dodged his blade, curving away from it. His sword bit into the ground and Clarissa took the advantage.
She threw herself at him, her elbow smashing into his face as her right foot slid between his legs and stayed behind his own leg. Her sudden weight threw him off balance and her foot tripped him up. They both went down with Clarissa on top.
Clarissa brought her sword down but he blocked it with his own. She snarled at him and he growled, a deep rumble that started from his chest. Clarissa pushed her knee into his sternum and pressed her strength down into her sword.
Jonathan threw his arm to the side, knocking both their swords from their hands. He was quicker to recover, his right hand snapping up and curling around her throat.
He squeezed and Clarissa felt her heart jump into panic. She refused to lose this time.
She grabbed for his face, clawing at anything her fingers could dig into. Jonathan arched his back and straightened his longer arms. Clarissa reached for his wrist and pressed her nails into his veins. She didn't think she could dig her knees any further into his ribcage.
Black spots were appearing in her vision. Jonathan let out a grunt and ripped his hand from her grip and throat.
A cough forced its way out of her throat but Clarissa wasted no time crushing his nose with her elbow before grabbing his head and bringing it to meet her head-butt.
She rolled off him to regain her breath and try to steady her head. If she had stayed on him, he would have gained the advantage.
Clarissa rose to her feet and her face caught a kick, throwing her backwards. Another hit to her gut before his fist struck under her chin, rattling her teeth.
Clarissa protected her head, her brain bouncing against her skull. She squeezed her eyes closed and felt his hands grab her shoulders.
She grabbed his hair and brought her knee up into his gut. Clarissa punched his sternum before punching his throat and kicking him over.
Jonathan fell to the ground and Clarissa pounced on him, beating her fists down until she heard clapping from the doorway.
She stared at Jonathan till he let a smile crack across his bloody face. He tapped the cement of the training room floor and Clarissa slowly got off him. She never took her eyes off him in case he tried something sneaky.
Their father stood by the door. The paper white hair, that matched Jonathan's, flashed before Clarissa's eyes and in seconds Jonathan was lifted onto Fathers shoulder and was being carried out.
Clarissa cringed in fear as she felt her brothers emotion through their bond. He looked back at her and silently shook his head a little, a silent command to not show Father her fear.
