A flash of silver in the red night and Clarissa felt the dagger skim her arm as she shifted to miss it. She turned to the right as she dodged the second dagger. Jia looked up and saw the shadowhunter and stopped throwing weapons at her. Clarissa threw her last chakram and Jia froze in place.
The demon screamed as it disappeared and Jia relaxed. She ran up to Clarissa and grabbed her hand, holding it tight.
"Thank you but please, you have to help me. My daughter is home alone with five other kids. Please, she's just a child." Jia kept ranting as an ugly aligator/fly/scorpian demon came up. She knew this was exactly what she needed. She slowly walked over to the demon who was spitting english at them and dived on top of it, starting a wrestling match. She grabbed its hand with the claws on it and raked them down her face starting at her left cheekbone and it ended half way down her neck. Its tail flapped and stabbed her leg and instantly Clarissa could feel its poison working through her body. She sliced its head off and it disappeared. Clarissa stood up and stumbled for a second before getting her bearings.
Jia was saying something and Clarissa half fell on top of her. She whispered into her ear as she slowly raised her sword - Cruella. Meaning evil and cruel, she thought it suited what she intended to do with the sword.
"Don't worry," Clarissa whispered. "I already killed her."
Clarissa pulled back and sliced downwards four times so the marks in Jia's chest looked like the ones that were on Clarissa's face. Jia's body dropped dead on the ground and Clarissa took a stumbling step towards her. She cried out for help as she clasped Jia's dead hand. It was already going cold.
The Lightwoods came up to her and all she could hear was muffled voices shouting.
"Shut up." She said but her voice came out a little wobbly as black spots appeared in her sight.
She swung and felt numb as her face landed on the ground. She closed her eyes not wanting to feel the venom kill her. The blackness had its hands around her and was starting to drag her in when someone touched her. She tried to open her eyes but couldn't muster the strength. The arms picked her up bridal style and she felt as the person ran. She could identify it was a boy but it wasn't Jonathan.
The realisation of who it was got her adrenailne pumping a little better and she pushed off Jace's chest and felt her body smack into the ground and roll a few times. She felt like making a noise of protest or something at least but she just couldn't. A stabbing pain came through her leg, head and veins. She heard muttering as the arms came around her again. She tried pushing off him but her strength was weakening by every nail getting hammered into her head. She heard a distant cry everytime the pain came and slowly realised it was her.
More muttering and moving.
She was ready to die. She felt something come under her and she blacked out.

Fire. She saw fire. Fire that not only burnt her but made her flinch at the sight of it. Heavenly fire. Clarissa tried turning away from it but it was like she was stuck. Hands slowly crawled up her arms and at first she thought it was Jonathan but the hands were too tanned. As if they were a key to her hold he picked her up and moved her away from the burning fire. She leaned into his arms as she turned to look into his golden eyes. She felt his hands go up her shirt and she felt like melting. He looked behind her back and let her go and she turned around and was ready to rip whoever it was's head off. She saw her brother growling as he stared at Jace. They were watching each other as they started to circle each other like they were both predators. As if from no where they were both weilding identical swords but Jonathan's was black and Jaces's was gold. Their swords clashed together and sparks flew. Literally.
They were a blare of silver and skin, just like Clarissa and Jonathan looked. They battled it out and Clarissa sat down in her dream throne, a chair made of gold with an antelopes skull on top. She sat down and leaned to the left, crossing her legs over. Only then did she realise what she was wearing. She had on a dress that matched her throne completely. Her dress was gold and finished mid thigh with no sleeves. She had on rings and a neckalace made of bone. She leaned her chin on her hand and waited to see who would win. Her hair fell into her eyes and she noticed it was orange again, with curls. She laughed silently to herself as she watched. The battle kept going on for what felt like forever. Eventually they pushed against each other and stumbled back. Clarissa saw what really the result was.
Both of them, bleeding close to everywhere. Not one massive blow, just a lot of small ones. They both lunged at each other and there was a flash of white and gold and then swords appeared at the back of them both, covered in blood. They both simultaneously let go of their hilts and Clarissa saw they had both stabbed eachother through the chest and they fell backwards. Clarissa sat up straight seeing there was going to be no winner. Clarissa didn't know what she was doing but her body did. It bounced up and sprinted towards - Jace?!
She thought she was heading to her brother but instead her body stopped in front of Jace and she kneeled next to him. Her hands reached out to grab the hilt and she saw her hands were shaking. Jace made a sound of protest and Clarissa bent closer to him. He didn't have his eyes open but his mouth was still moving.
"My angel, Clarissa." Was all he said.
He repeated the sentence over and over again, never changing it until his voive stopped and his chest wasn't rising. Clarissa cried out and shook him but he didn't move. She slapped him hard but still no response. She felt a single tear run down her face for the first time. It was wet and salty, and she found she didn't like crying. It made her feel weird, like something was hammering her heart to pieces.

Clarissa woke up with a start. She gasped for air and took a few deep breaths. Forgetting where she was, she was expecting to see her purple and black room but no, she woke up in a white room. She sighed, seeing Aline's room and turned to the armchair where her brother was sitting. His hand was holding his head up and he sat straight when he saw her. He jumped up and quickly patted her down, looking for any injuries as if she could hurt herself in her sleep.
"What happened?" She asked and Jonathan stopped checking and sat back down his chair.
"You were poisoned by a demon. Be happy that Father taught us to take care of that. Your 'mother' is dead."
Clarissa nodded and got off the bed. She wobbled for a second but recovered easily.
"You shouldn't have let it sting you." Jonathan said as Clarissa hunted through Aline's clothes for ones of mourning. She found a nice dress that was white and had light silver mourning runes stitched into it. It looked suspicously like the dress in her dreams with the no sleeves and where the hem ended.
"It made me look more like them." Clarissa said as she slipped the dress on and walked over to Jonathan. He zipped it up for her
"You could have died if I wasn't there." Jonathan said seriously as Clarissa turned to face him.
"But you were here, so lets forgot about this." She said and headed for the door.
"Clarissa wait. Father wants us." Jonathan said and Clarissa stopped as Jonathan clasped her hands like Hansel and Gretel. The room disappeared with a twist of his ring and they were now standing in a cave. The walls were clay and in the middle of the room was Valentine sitting on a throne made of silver. Clarissa thought it was stupid to meet your children while you sat on your throne but then she thought that she would probably do the same thing.
"What happened?" Valentine said as he bounced from his chair and grabbed Clarissa not too ruffly by the chin and examined her face. Clarissa touched her face and felt the blood start up again. She purposely turned to Jonathan who obviously hadn't healed her while she was unconsious. He shrugged and she glared.
"Clarissa was attacked by a demon while she was going to kill Jia. She let it scratch her to make it look like she had been in a good battle while it 'killed' Jia Penhallow." Clarissa was thankful Jonathan had left out the bit about her getting stung. Valentine asked what had been happening so far and Clarissa tuned them out as she examined the room. It had been carved out of the cave leaving the walls bare. The roof was high up and the tunnels were huge. The pore demons who had to do this for her Father.
"Clarissa" Jonathan said as he ran towards her "Father says we have to go get Hodge"
"Hodge? The old one? " Clarissa didn't like how smart he was.
"Yes."
"Isn't he stuck in the institute? "
"That's what I thought but Father said he freed him when he got the Mortal Sword. He came to idris-"
"Fool."
"- but they captured him. Malachi says he keeps talking about the lake. We have to go find him according to Father"
Clarissa sighed as she took Jonathan's hand and they disappeared before reappearing in Clarissa's bedroom. They both walked out and entered the lounge room where everyone was sitting. Mayrse was the first to jump up and hug her, then Isabelle and last was Seraphina. Clarissa kept a hard expression on, she refused to cry. Alec rubbed her arm and gave her a small smile which she didn't return. Robert gave her an awkward one arm hug and then there was Jace. He looked at her, really at her not Aline.
He stared into her eyes and soul and just simply turned back to the window. Clarissa felt rejected all of a sudden and her anger rose. She pushed it down as she calmly sat down on the chair next to Jace's couch. Everyone kept glancing at her while they murmured and talked. Clarissa rolled her eyes as she looked out the same window as Jace. She felt her arm shift in the chair and she turned to see Jace starring at her.
"Do you want to go for a ride? " Jace asked and Clarissa thought about this for a second. She smiled at him and took his outstretched hand. He led her to the horses and Clarissa stopped in front of Laila. She patted her and fed her an apple. She saddled her up and whispered to the horse to be good today because she wanted to talk to Jace. The horse made a noise of pleasure and Clarissa took it as a okay. She hopped on her horse as she waited on the grass. Jace came out a second later riding the horse from before. They started the track from before but then Jace took a right instead of left. They started passing houses Clarissa faintly remembered from her runs to Jace...and Seraphina...
"Were you close to your mother?" Jace asked as he stared down at his hands. Clarissa waited a little before asking.
"No. She was away to easily, and didn't return for what seemed like forever" Jace nodded and it was another mintute before he said anything.
"I know what it feels like to lose a parent, even if mine wasn't real i thought it was for seven years" They were both silent as Clarissa thought. The horses pulled up and Clarissa looked up. They were infront of a house, the Waylands.
"I grew up here, far away from people" Jace said and Clarissa rode closer. She knew what was down in that cellar, and she knew Jace needed to see.
"Can we have a look inside?" She asked and he shrugged. They jumped off their horses and went to the front door. With a little push and an open rune the door swung and they entered.
