The sword came down.
And Jace smacked into Clarissa just as the sword cut into Isabelle's chest. She dropped the sword as she fell to the ground, Jace on top of her. He stayed there, looking at her. She thrashed and moved under him, trying to get out and kill the girl.
A life for a life.
Jace kept her held down till she relaxed. He slowly moved back, hesitant. Clarissa glared at him and looked over to see Isabelle staring at the sword that was cut into her chest after Clarissa dropped it. Isabelle was panting deeply and wincing with every breath.
Clarissa looked up at Jace, seeing the hesitation in them. He wasn't sure what to do. And he shouldn't be.
She grabbed the handle of her sword and pulled it out of Isabelle's hoping to get it in a bit deeper. She whimpered and Clarissa smirked. Jace took a step towards her and she leaped backwards, flipped and dived for her other sword. She searched them both and looked at Seraphina who was drawing a healing rune. She had just finished taking out the daggers. Clarissa kicked the stele away and stepped on her shin, making her scream.
She turned back to Isabelle, knowing that one day she vowed to kill her, no matter what. She deserved it.
Clarissa looked at Jace. He was bleeding and bruises were already starting on his face. His lip was cut and his cheek was sliced a little. His shirt was open at the front and blood was coming from atop his heart. Clarissa looked at his eyes. They were as bright as ever. She felt like falling into them. Maybe one day she would.
She laughed out loud at that. If only.
She gave him a sad smile and he stepped forward, mouth open to say something and arm out as if he could stop her. She jumped up and wrapped her hands around the branch of the tree. She swung her body on it, crouching. She jumped to the higher one and ran to the side of it, jumping to the next tree.
She looked down at Jace. He stared at the sky, to the trees with such a lost expression and abandoned that Clarissa's heart squeezed.
She shook her head. She would take care of Jace later, right now she had to finish what her and her brother had planned all along.
Her face hardened out and she pushed all emotion for Jace and her brother away.
Job before anything else.
Even Jace.
