*Chapter 8*

''I'm home'' Rowan announced, taking her coat off. ''How's school today Row?'' Billy asked, his eyes still focused on the television. ''It's okay, another essay is due next week though. I swear they created school just for torture'' she whined, plopping herself on the sofa next to her grandfather.

''Yeah, that's great'' he said and Rowan rolled her eyes. Whenever the game is on, the whole world stop for Billy. She didn't mind though, in fact, today it would serve as an advantage. ''Hey grandpa'' she said turning to him ,tapping lightly on his shoulder.

''I'm going out tonight okay? I have a project to work on with a classmate'' Billy just nodded, not understanding anything that Rowan was yapping about.

''Okay that settles it then, I won't have dinner tonight'' she said quickly, running up the stairs to prepare. Opening her backpack, she took the package that Alice has given her. Without delay, she ripped the wrapping off, and almost gasped as she saw a beautiful red dress. It was frilly and definitely expensive.

''Hey Bella, at what time are you going to pick me up?'' Rowan asked, pacing around the room while talking. ''I'll pick you up at 8pm'' the brunette replied, sounding the least excited  about the whole birthday celebration.

''Can you pick me around the outside of res? I've kind of told grandpa that I'm doing a group project'' Rowan had told Bella before about her grandfather's warning regarding the Cullens, and to her surprise, Bella admitted that he had told her the same thing. Rowan always thought of her grandfather as kind , so him babbling about the Cullens didn't make sense to her at all. Rowan was forced to lie and she didn't like that , she saw no harm with the Cullens.

Bella hesitated, '' I don't think that's a good idea, with all the animal attacks, it's dangerous for you. It would be dark outside too'' Edward could not step in Quileute lands, and he would never allow Bella to be alone.

''I'm going to be fine, how about you just park maybe two- three blocks away?'' Rowan laughed, finding Bella being scared very uncharacteristic.

Bella sighed, already anxious due to Victoria's recent visitations in Forks.

'' Sure, see you'' she said however, finding solace that Alice would be watching, and so she agreed.

Rowan decided that she would take a quick nap after, needing some recharging after the gruelling hours of school. She was excited to see the Cullen's residence at last, it must be massive and tall, like the buildings from Toronto. Edward told her that his family loved to collect artworks from around the world, and she couldn't wait to see that as well.

Setting up her alarm, she quickly dozed off, smiling widely as she recalled the promise of cake and burgers. It wasn't the alarm clock that had woken her up out of her sleep though, but rather the loud chatters of many people downstairs. Rubbing her eyes, she rose and looked around. At the front of the house was a large bonfire , and more strangers that she has not met before. ''That's weird'' she said, walking outside of her room to peek downstairs.

She saw Jake first and Embry, then the others. Sue was there with her family, not wasting any moment she ran downstairs. ''Seth!'' she called out, it has been hard to find time with him as they don't go to the same school, and with the midterms coming up, it was impossible.

''Hi Row'' Seth said, sitting at the sofa casually. ''I missed you'' she said, hugging the stunned teen without permission. '' I did too'' Seth said, retuning her embrace gladly.

''What are you all doing here ?'' she asked, her grandfather didn't mention anything about guest coming over. '' There's a tribal meeting today, and Billy wanted to host it here'' Harry Clearwater said, unloading the meat that he had brought for the barbeque.
