Paul paced back and forth , running his hands through his hair many times. He felt confused , the emotions running through him were foreign. He had to see her , to be near her. The warmth and the comfort filled him greatly when his eyes met hers and Paul wanted to feel it again. "I should go and see her Sam , I need to'' She's probably at school , maybe he should wait until classes end for her.
"You've imprinted" Sam explained , eyeing the restless Paul. " I need to see her" Paul said breathlessly, his mind unable to focus on anything else. He didn't care about anything anymore. All he could see was her soft hazel eyes , her dark hair and her ridiculous rainbow outfit.
"I know, but now is not the right time." he said, feeling sympathetic. He was confused too when he imprinted on Emily , and Sam knew very well how painful it is to even be apart from her. But Paul had a temper, a bad one at that, Sam had to be near him at all times because of it. There were several accidental phasings already, and most of them are from Paul.
"You need to learn how to control your temper first" Paul looked offended , his eyes widening at him. "I would never hurt her" He almost growled at the accusation.
Sam clenched his jaw and shut his eyes tightly. "I thought the same thing with Emily" Crossing his arms , he looked at Paul again, trying to find the words that would resonate with him.
"It takes just a moment Paul, just losing control for even a split second and you can never take it back" Sam still hasn't forgiven himself for hurting his imprintee, and he would make sure it would never happen to anyone in the pack.
Paul grimaced and stopped pacing at the memory. They were the ones who took Emily to the hospital after all, the blood and the grievous wound, he understood why Sam wanted to kill himself out of guilt . He would never forgive himself if he harms Rowan, even imagining it brought him tremendous pain.
Emily's scar was a reminder to all of them of what they are capable of , and frankly it scared Paul. As a human, his anger was already hard to manage, and now it seemed that his problem only magnified. "Help me control it" he said , his eyes pleading, his hands clenched so tightly it was turning white.
''Alright'' Sam said, placing his hands firmly on his shoulder. ''Let's go to Billy's first, to explain'' Paul agreed, feeling defeated, he followed Sam without question. As they walked, Paul felt nervous, imprinting on the tribal chief's granddaughter was not something he was expecting. He thought it would be just a random girl in reservation , but found himself glad that it was someone interesting like Rowan.
Jared joined them after in the forest, his hyena like laughter booming throughout the woods as they made their way to the Black household. Clutching his stomach, Jared found it hard to contain his laughter. He pointed at Paul. '' The rainbow girl is your imprintee?"
"Yes" Paul said gritting his teeth . How dare he laugh at her? "Have a problem with that Cameron?" Jared raised his hands in surrender, not wanting to be the dumping point of his wrath.
''Well no, it's just unexpected'' Jared said, attempting to save himself from Paul. He really didn't want another fight with him, and he just bought new t-shirts. ''Behave yourselves'' Sam said, before knocking at the door.
''Is everything alright?'' Billy said, his eyes darting between each of them. The pack never visited unannounched and it worried him.
''May we come in?'' Sam asked and Billy nodded. '' Of course''
''Another member imprinted'' Sam said and Billy nodded in understanding.
''Alright, who is it this time? '' he asked, leading all of them in the living room. ''Is it Jared or Paul?'' They all sat on the couch, and while Sam did so respectfully, the other two sat with their legs wide.
A stern gaze was all it took for the other two to sit properly, and Billy wondered who was the unfortunate girl that was imprinted on.
'' I did'' Paul said and everyone noticed how eager he sounded.
Billy's eyebrows rose at how vague they were being, when Sam imprinted, he announced it rather openly. Looking at the pack members and their expressions, Billy knew there was something that he wouldn't like. They all looked like they were hesitating on speaking, and his senses told him that they were afraid.
''He imprinted on.. your granddaughter'' Sam explained, sparing Paul from confessing.
''Rowan... '' Billy said, not believing it at first. ''Rowan?'' He gave a heartful laugh, giving Paul a quick glance.
'' Oh, good luck with that'' he said, and while Paul was relieved that he didn't take offence, he was bothered with the Elder's seemingly comedic response to the revelation.
''Is there something wrong?'' Paul frowned, feeling confused.
''She is my only granddaughter'' Billy said , turning serious all of a sudden.
The chief thought it was better if Jared was the one who imprinted on Rowan, he had greater control on himself, and besides he has seen how Paul reacted sometimes. Billy already knew it would be a complicated relationship, Rowan didn't like boys like Paul.
Glancing up and down at Paul, the Elder shook his head. '' You need to control yourself first before you go any closer'' There was intensity in the chief eyes, letting Paul know that he was serious.
'' If you hurt her , you will answer to me'' he warned, offering his hand for him to shake.
'' I understand'' Paul said, shaking his hand. There was no use for Billy to be difficult, the act of imprinting was involuntary and he knew if Paul had a choice, Rowan would not be the one.
Billy looked up briefly, a smile playing on his lips. If everything goes right, Rowan might consider staying in Forks permanently. ''Now go, Jake would be home any minute now'' he said, waving them away.
''Are there signs?'' Sam asked, rising from his seat. ''No, not yet'' Billy replied, meeting Sam's eyes. '' I'll let you know'' the chief said as he lead them to the door, already thinking of how he would tell Rowan the history of her ancestors , just to prepare her for the inevitable.
