Willow
Early the next morning before everyone woke up, I decided to go jog around a bit outside. I dressed in tights and a fitted hoodie, pulling my hair up into a ponytail before grabbing my headphones and making my way outside. The cool morning air greeted me,and a small smile formed on my face as I admired my surroundings. I turned on my music and started to slowly walk down to the park a few blocks away from the house.
Once I reached my destination, I noticed a few people were out and about, some walking dogs, others enjoying coffee and the daily newspaper. I jogged, following the twisted trail that circled around the lake. I lowly hummed to one of my favorite songs that was playing from my phone: When I See You by Fantasia. I took short quick breaths as I paced myself, allowing my thoughts to drift all over the place. It always ended up on Keith. Although I did still have some doubts about us, deep down inside I was happy with my decision.
I suddenly came to a stop as I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned around to meet eyes with the finest chocolate man I had ever seen. I suddenly felt very self conscious, and his warm smile lit up his face.
"You uh... dropped this I think." He held up my small purple wallet, the name Willow printed on it in cursive white letters. I'd had this wallet since my junior year of high school. It was my last gift my grandma gave to my before her cancer got worse and she was forced to leave this harsh world. It held a special place in my heart.
"Oh wow thank you so much! It would kill me to lose this." I said, quickly tucking it into the pocket of my jacket before zipping the pocket.
"Yea I've been trying to catch up with you. You're running pretty fast." I heard his deep voice chuckle, and I blushed a bit.
"Thanks again. I'm Willow." I smiled, holding out my hand for him to shake. "And you are?"
Yes, I was definitely flirting. This man was fine.
"Tremonté. But you," He grabbed my hand, kissing it before shaking it," can call me Tre. Nice to meet you."
I'm pretty sure my smile was as wide as the lake I was jogging beside, and I noticed he took the time to check me out a bit.
"Mind if I join you on your morning run? I was just about to start myself." He broke the silence, now walking beside me at the same slow pace. I shrugged a bit.
"Sure. Why not? If you can keep up." I chuckled a bit, leading us on the light brown concrete.
"So are you from around here? I've never seen you on this trail before."
"No, I'm actually on vacation. I'm in school in Florida." I said, slowing the pace so that my voice wouldn't sound choppy from my quick breathing.
"Florida huh?" He looked to the side. "How long will you be in town?"
"I'd rather not give that information out to strangers." I joked, and sped up again, forcing him to have to catch up. When he did, I could still see the smirk on his face.
