"I came to pick you up. You weren't there,"
"Sorry, I got a ride with a friend." Max lied, she couldn't tell Billy what had really happened
"Whatever, make any new friends?"
"No, not really." She lied again, he had always tormented her friends back home.
"So you're still a little shit, good to know."
He laughed, making fun of her. Max walked off to her bedroom rolling her eyes. Her headache had seemed to never end, and Billy wasn't helping.
The redhead grabbed her skateboard heading out her bedroom window, but there was an unexpected visitor standing outside

"Oh thank god I found you!" Dustin looked over
"Dustin?! What are you doing here?" She quickly grabbed his arm, pulling him away to the side of the house where they couldn't be seen
"We were really worried, what happened?"
"I just fell and hit my head, so Mike's sister helped clean me up. I'm fine, really."
"Oh good! At least Mikes not being an ass."
"Yeah I guess. Do you wanna go to the arcade?"
"I came here to ask you the same thing."
Dustin smiled, Max did as well. She knew Billy would kill her if there was a boy even anywhere near the house, so they left for the arcade.

"Another win for me!" Maxine looked at her friend with a smirk, he rolled his eyes. "Shut up!"
They laughed, she looked around the busy arcade with a soft smile "So, do you like Mike?"
Max whipped her head towards Dustin
"What?! I barely even know him, what makes you think that I do?!" She spoke defensively
"Nothing! He's just weird about you, I've never seen him he such an ass, and then so sweet."
"We're just friends Dustin, I don't have any feelings for him, I promise." Today was turning out to be a big day of lying for Maxine, she had seen a different side of Mike today.

"Okay good, he has a girlfriend anyways."
"Yeah, I heard.." Max looked down "Who is she?"
"Her names Elle. They've been dating for like two years, she's away on a little trip with her dad right now, they're really in love."
"Oh, cool.." Max turned back to the big game machine in front of her before continuing to beat Dustin in every game possible.

Maxine began to skate away back home when she saw someone sitting on a bench towards the trains tracks, looking closer she realized it was Will Byers. Her face filled with joy as she walked over, he had been super nice to her
"Hey Will! What's up?" She walked over
"Oh hey, nothing. Just a bit down.."
"Why? What happened?" She questioned
"Mikes girlfriend is coming back tomorrow, and whenever she's around he forgets that we even exist so it's pretty annoying." He sighed
"Jeez, that's harsh. Can't wait to meet her,"
Max joked, Will laughed "You're cool Max."
"So are you Will, reeaaall coool." She teased, he punched her shoulder before laughing.
