ANDY’S POV
“Whoa! Is this really your house?” Heather asked, wide-eyed. She walked farther into my house, with a huge grin on her face.
I dropped her bags down near the door and walked over to her. “Yep.” I responded, placing my hand on her shoulder. “And this is where you’ll be staying.” She looked up at me enthusiastically, still in awe of her surroundings. In all honesty, my house was nothing special. In fact, it was sort of on the small side. Not to mention the fact that I shared it with Ashley, so that only limited the space even more. I couldn’t help but feel relieved that Heather was pleased with it. I suppose anything would seem great, after staying in a single room in the hospital for weeks on end.
Heather walked into the living room, and instantly her eyes were brought to a picture frame. She picked it up delicately and held it in her hand, looking softly at the photo. Curiously, I walked up beside her and looked down at the photo in her hands. It was one of my favorites. It was one my parents had taken, when I was little and Heather and I went to the beach. I was maybe twelve, but even then I towered over her. It was before I’d started dying my hair, so our blonde hair made it look as though we were siblings. A smile cracked onto my face, as the memory flooded back to me. We’d dressed up in terrible, homemade bear costumes and stolen a picnic basket from another family. When the other people complained, I shouted ‘I’m Yogi Bear bitches!’ and ate their sandwich right in front of them. I didn’t do it because I was hungry though. I think I just did it to make Heather laugh.
“We were something, weren’t we.” Reminisced Heather, as if reading my thoughts.
I saw her trace the outline of her long, blonde hair and looked up at me, with a smile on her face. I smiled down at her and took the picture frame from her grip, placing it back on the shelf. “Yeah.” I laughed, leading her away from the shelf. “ So…” I began, with a smile on my lips. “Don’t you want to see where you’ll be sleeping?” Suddenly her expression changed back to excitement, and she began nodding her head enthusiastically. “Then let’s go.” I said, picking Heather up bridal style. As we walked up the stairs, I could tell she was getting even more excited. How long has it been since she’s had her own room?
I set her down right in front of her door. As soon as her light feet touched the ground, her hands sprung to the knob. I couldn’t help but laugh as the door flew open, knocking into the wall. Her jaw dropped to the floor and her brown eyes widened even more (if that’s possible) “Whoa!” She exclaimed.
“I take it you like it?” I laughed, raising an eyebrow.
She turned around and hugged me tight, burying her head into my chest. “I love it.” She said, looking up at me then around the room.
It was a pretty boring room all in all. We’d use it as a guest room if ever we had one or if any of the guys needed to crash with us. It had a queen-sized bed, with white sheets and pillows and a red blanket. Next to the bed was a small table, across from the bed was a TV and along the far wall was a closet. Lastly, there was also a bathroom connected to her room. She was lucky, because it was the only room we had with it’s own bathroom. “I know it’s not much right now, but we didn’t really have much time to set it up. Gretchen offered to take you cloths shopping and if you want we could get you some decorations for your room.” I offered.
She walked happily over to her bed and sat down. “You fuss over me too much Andy.” She grinned. “ You don’t need to waste your money, redoing a room that I already love.” She said, falling back onto the bed. “Although…” She sat back up. “I could use some more cloths.” She admitted. “You don’t think that Gretchen would mind?” She asked, tilting her head.
I shook my head and pat Heather’s head. “ Not in the least bit. She wouldn’t shut up about it the whole drive here.” I assured her. “The guys’ll be over in a bit, so I’ll tell Gretchen then.”
“Great!” Heather said, clasping her hands together. “Now get out. I have to shower before they come over.” She pointed to the door.
I put my hands in the air as if giving up. “Alright, alright. I’m going.” I turned on my heels and began walking to the door.
“Oh, and Andy.” Heather called.
I turned around, to look at her. “Yeah?”
She bounced over to me and wrapped her arms around me. “Thank you.” She whispered with her head in my chest.
I lifted my arms around her and kissed the top of her head. “Your welcome.” I replied, looking down at her softly. I could already tell that she was getting back to her normal self. With any luck, that’d give her the strength to survive.
