"What the hell?" Michael muttered, looking at Ray and Gavin for an explanation. "Well, they walked in, saw our wings, we asked to see theirs then Geoff blurted out that I was cheating on Gavin." "Bollocks! I should have faked being surprised and angry!" Gavin said with a giggle. "That would have been fucking funny." Michael agreed. "Catch!" Michael threw the ball to Ray who flew over and caught it. Everything was going fine until Gavin hit a vase. "GAVIN!" Michael yelled, flying over to inspect it. "The ball slipped!" "Yeah? Well Geoff is gonna flip! He told us to not break anything!" As if summoned, Geoff flew in. "Everyone to the meeting room. Now." He didn't even take a second glance at the vase as he flew out. They all followed him curiously. The look on Geoff's face was enough to know that it wasn't good. Gavin opened his mouth to ask a question, but one look from Michael made him shut it. Geoff spread his wings and took off. Ray, Gavin and Michael followed him. As they flew, Ray noticed how high the ceilings were in this place. Geoff opened the door to the meeting room and they all flew in, taking the only open seats. Everyone else was already there, waiting for Geoff to speak. He stood up at the head of the table and began. "As you all now, we know have two new members in our family of freaks. Gavin and Ray." They both nodded with a smile to everyone. "If you don't already know, Gavin and Ray were captured by the king and escaped. They are both highly wanted. The king's guards were instructed to do absolutely anything necessary to get them." Everyone nodded quietly, eyes on Gavin and Ray who sat there awkwardly, nervous by all the sudden attention. "The king has found our small bases scattered throughout the kingdom and well, eliminated them as well as the guards." Geoff said sadly, giving everyone a moment to think of their loss. "They are now searching everywhere. Through the forests and around the walls. We are in a dangerous spot." Geoff sat down and let Jack take it who sat to his left. "We all know, well by now, how wanted and valuable Ray and Gavin are to the king. We need to not only protect them, but ourselves. We need to start training. We need to learn to fight, to shoot, to be prepared." Everyone whispered amongst themselves. "Fight?" "Use guns?" "Yes. We all need to learn how to protect ourselves in an emergency situation. Our kind has been in danger for as long as I can remember, and we need to survive." Geoff once again took the speaking role. "Jack, Griffon and I have the most experience, so we will train you all in groups. Understood? We start tonight with basic athletic training and endurance. We need to not only be well trained, but also in good shape. Everyone must be at the gym at 7 o'clock sharp! Dismissed!" Geoff's loud voice bounced around the walls as people began to file out, spreading their wings. Gavin and Ray watched in awe as everyone flew out as a pack, different colored wings flying amongst other colors. "Stop staring and lets go." Michael teased, spreading his wings and taking off, Ray and Gavin following him. They flew back to their rooms. "Look, it's 5:15 now, and we have an hour and 45 minutes until we gotta go to the gym. What should we do?" Gavin asked, looking between them. "I dunno." Ray shrugged his shoulders, walking into Michael's room. "Eh! That's my room!" Michael yelled, following after Ray with Gavin in suit. Ray was sprawled on the bed, face in the pillow. He was mumbling to himself. "Ray? Speak up!" Gavin whined, not being able to hear him. "I've ruined everything. I put Gavin and all of you in danger. People are probably going to die because of me!" Ray yelled, angrily, more directed at himself than anyone else. "Ray. Don't say th-" "No! It's true! I should just leave! I brought danger onto your perfectly safe family, and the king wants Gavin's head because of me! I just need to leave and keep you all safe!" Ray bolted out of the bed and towards the door, but Michael grabbed him and started to bring him back with the help of Gavin. "Ray! Ray! Stop!" Gavin yelled as Ray gave a tired sigh from struggling and plopped onto the floor, head in hands. "Ray...." Michael whispered, sitting down next to him. "It isn't your fault! Look, I would rather have it like this, with us in danger, than having never met you before!" Michael whispered, hugging Ray. "And Ray...you didn't put me in danger. Look, I've known you forever okay? I always put you in dangerous situations. Like, all the time. The king took us both, it wasn't your fault. Don't blame yourself." Gavin said with a sigh, sitting on the other side of Ray. "But it is. I need to leave." "NO!" Ray and Gavin flinched at Michael's sudden yelling. "You, you can't leave. Gavin and I need you Ray. If you leave, your even more vulnerable to the king. He would take you without us knowing. We will protect you." "I DON'T NEED TO BE PROTECTED! I'M NOT A LITTLE KID!" Ray yelled angrily, and they both jumped. Ray rarely ever yelled. He was always calm and collected. "I'M NOT SOME LITTLE KID WHO NEEDS THEIR PARENTS TO PROTECT THEM! I'M FINE ON MY OWN!" Ray screamed in frustration, standing up and walking to the door. "Ray-" "STOP IT!" Ray shrugged off Gavin's hand and slammed Michael's door behind him as he went into his room. Gavin sighed and leaned on Michael. "Is he usually like this? What he did there, that was more like me." Michael questioned. "I, I've never seen him get like this. He's always so collected and calm. I think this made his bottle of emotions explode." Gavin whispered, staring at the door that was slightly crooked off its hinges from being slammed so hard. Ray paced his and Gavin's room fuming. "Fucking seriously? Why me? I'm not important! God dammint!" Ray screamed in frustration, slamming his fists on the table. "Look what you're doing Ray. Putting great, innocent people on the edge of death. Good job." Ray muttered to himself, raking his fingers through his hair. "FUCKING FUCK!" He shrieked randomly, flipping the nightstand over, watching as the clock smashed on the ground. Ray's eyes widened at what he just did. He never had outbursts like this. Maybe the yelling, but never as bad as this. "No." Ray whispered, laying down on the bed, staring up at the white ceiling. "Why me?" He whispered to no one, eyes unblinking as he stared into space. "Why me?"
