Chapter 7: Snakes in the Grass

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil: July 24th 2020: 2:20 AM

The Mirage flew out of a Shadow Portal and headed straight towards the city of Rio De Janeiro, Brazil in its flight mode form....coming to a stop above the center of the downtown area.

Hovering high above the city, Shadow Knight surveyed the area.

This place was three or four times larger than Lunar City, lots of places to hide.

So he had best find out where this El Viper guy liked to make roost in and fast.

He was about to go to work when suddenly The Mirage's communication network suddenly came online.

"You better be here trying to take a vacation son" Commander Arcane's voice said through the dashboard speakers.

"Arcane?" Shadow Knight said in recognition, "How did you get a hold of this frequency?

"I made it a rule to keep an eye on you since out of the rest of the Heroes Legion you were the one who needed someone keeping an eye on you to make sure you didn't do anything stupid. That included placing a bug in your rides software, "Commander Arcane answered, "You're a long way from Lunar City. What are you doing here?"

"You know why, otherwise we wouldn't be having this conversation." Shadow Knight said sharply.

"Astute as usual..." Commander Arcane said in defeat, "I heard about your parent's situation from my TECHNET division the instant their names ended up on the news and the hospital patient manifest data. The second I found out I put my eye in the sky on you to track you down and get a hold of you. It's a good thing I did...you're going after El Viper aren't you?"

"You captured that guy I left at the pharmaceutical manufactory?" Shadow Knight deduced, figuring that's how Arcane knew how to find him.

"My Agents managed to get the truth out of him after getting him out of that gunk you left him trapped in for the cops of the city to find with this solvent we've developed. He didn't remember anything thanks to your hypnotic skills...but that's the beauty of having a Tech department like ours. Brain tap machines are not a work of fiction anymore. We're still examining his recent memories, but enough has been extracted to let me know you were involved and where you were going next. You should have contacted me. You can't just go where you please, you could cause an international incident" Commander Arcane confirmed.

"This isn't a SLEET matter Arcane, this one is personal. I need to find this man and I don't know how much time I have to do it in." Shadow Knight said, looking down at the city of Rio bellow.

"I already know where he is. I have agents working with the police in Rio who have been trying to track him down and detain him, he's one of three heads of a drug cartel called the Five Aztecs" Commander Arcane explained, "I know you're after him because you think he's responsible for your parents poisoning. So if you insist on trampling on international borders and interfering with international affairs to get your parents poisoning..."

Shadow Knight lost his temper.

"Don't give me that red tape ultimatum Arcane, this isn't one of your spy games or have anything to do with your secret war with FEIND and keeping the big wigs in power in the free countries happy while you keep the power hungry psycho's of the world from taking advantage of their bureaucratic ease. Someone target my family. My Parents are dying! I don't give a shit about proper channels, politics or international treaties of non-interference or any of that horseshit. If I have to I'll tear down half of Sugarloaf Mountain, climb to the top of the statue of Christ and sing in Portugal 'I'm an Oscar Myer wiener!" if that's what it'll take to save them!"
