THREE HOURS LATER...
Watchtower HQ: July 24th 2020: 10:09 AM
Detective Rene Alverez, Marty Osmond and Darcy Osmond stood around Nightwatch-001 as Marty Osmond/Orpheus worked the controls trying to get a hold off Shadow Knight...or at least get a lock on his current location.
Thanks to Detective Rene Alverez, they had found out that Dr. Alice Krisper did have a sister and niece.
But contrary to what she had said, her niece didn't have leukemia.
She was healthy, and she was a teenager not a child.
In fact, according to her mother...Alice Krisper hadn't been in contact with her sister or her family for almost 11 years after graduating college.
She was persona non grata by choice from her family... in fact, judging by the reaction and stories told by her sister when she investigated this...the woman was a big overachieving scheming bully when they were growing up...and now she was a full blown sociopath willing to do whatever to get ahead in life and career.
Her sister figured that the reason why Detective Rene Alvarez was investigating her was because her actions finally caught up with her, especially since it wouldn't be the first time she had used her family as tools for her own design.
The last straw was finding out she was using her daughter as a "sympathy plea" by lying that she was sick with some kind of disease in order for her to get sympathetic investors to start putting funds into a cure for cancer (another disease she didn't have at all) for OAC to build and instead pooled those funds into creating things like "Frenzy"...after that, she placed a restraining order and filed a suit against her estranged sister.
She was supposed to show up in court a week ago...the same day that she approached Shadow Knight in the subway!
This meant not only was everything that she had said to Shadow Knight in the tunnel a lie...but it also might mean that she was who had poisoned Shadow Knight's parents.
But why?
What could she have to gain from this?
Besides gaining Shadow Knight's wrath when he eventually found out, which undoubtedly he would have.
He was no idiot.
Detective Rene Alverez stood there beside Orpheus as he worked the controls of Nightwatch-001, arms folded, and scowling.
She wasn't just thinking about where Shadow Knight could be, she was thinking about what she was going to do to him when they found them.
She was furious to find out that Shadow Knight had gone off on his own investigation without informing her or the Special Crimes Unit about what he was doing...like he had agreed he would when he had brought her and the others he trusted into his circle by forming that unit.
He wasn't supposed to keep her out of the loop; he was supposed to inform her or Commissioner Reed about things like this.
Cops were never meant to work alone; they needed partners to back them up.
They needed to inform their superiors of what they were doing, what they had found, and where they were going in case something went wrong.
She had hoped that by deciding to work with the cops, he would understand that.
But instead, he had gone off doing the Lone Wolf Vigilante bit again.
Now something had gone wrong, so instead of continuing the investigation into who had poisoned the Kishi senior's, which she only recently had been informed about, they had to try and look for HIM now instead.
