2.6 Truest Of All

          "Counter idea?"

I nod and begin to explain, "See, I've read the clauses of the will. Nowhere does it say that I have to marry before 25 to get inheritance. It just says that if I want to claim it before 25, then I can only marry you."

The confusion is still on his face. "Okay?" Does it not mean what we already know?

I say in enthusiasm, "Don't you see, Aarav? We don't have to get married for real. Neither do I need to claim my inheritance earlier. We just have to give Dinesh that impression - the same way we are giving him the impression of being under police protection."

The puzzle pieces begin to click slowly but surely as the haze clears his expressions visibly. "So, a fake marriage."

I bob my head to the side, "In a way. See, we've already made the decision we won't be getting married. So, just to show him, we can do like a quick court marriage type of thing... but even to have it legally registered and for the marriage to be recognized, it'll take a few weeks, yes? And nowhere in the will is it written that the marriage needs to be recognized first by a legal entity and only then can the power of attorney be transferred."

"Sign the documents but don't submit it in the court and you still get everything transferred to your name," he concludes almost breathlessly. Then he looks up at me in pride, "Brilliant. How did you even come to find this loophole? None of us would have seen it."

I shrug my shoulders in modesty, "Let's say I dreamed to be a lawyer in another lifetime."

Before all of this... I did take pre-law courses in Australia after all as my undergraduate degree. And, I had read the will multiple times since Arnav gave it to me. It was staring right in their faces. They just weren't looking for a loophole because everyone in the Raizada family had long since accepted me as their daughter-in-law.

But when I was taking in the will with a different end goal, it wasn't hard to spot it then.

He comments in light humor, "Man, I wouldn't want you as my enemy any given day."

I laugh, "That's not possible, Aarav."

He says, "Just saying. You sure have a touch of wickedness in that brain of yours."

I swat his arm and speak in defense, "Hey, I just saved your ass. Instead of mocking me, you might want to try being grateful."

He chuckles because he knows that I know he isn't saying it in a demeaning manner. He almost says it as if proud of me. With that, he leans over to hug me, careful not to hurt my injuries in the process. "That just goes to say how very lucky I am to have you in my life."
