2.40 Comes The Fall

I open my eyes at the first crack of dawn. Normally, I am already awake before this time but today, waking up in the morning feels refreshing. I turn my head sideways and follow my hand to Inaaya's stomach... well, more like on top of Jhanvi's hand whose hand is on Inaaya. Quietly shifting to my side, my gaze travels next to Jhanvi's sleeping face. All the times I've sneaked into her room in the last week and a half at the palace, it has been the middle of the night. I'd always leave before sunrise. As such, I never noticed till now just how radiant and peaceful she looks.

Inhaling deeply, I lift my hand off hers and forward it toward her face. Lifting a strand, I tuck it back to admire a clear view of her face a second longer, letting my finger linger over her cheek. Then, not wanting to disturb her sleep, I pull back and sit up. Replacing my space with pillows so Inaaya won't roll over, I quietly reach the door and step out turning the door knob.

Walking two doors down, I use the keycard to open the suite Randeep had booked for himself. Going inside, I find him sprawled out on the bed lying on his stomach. I find myself letting out a silent chuckle. 24 and this boy still sleeps like a wild child. He needs to find a girl for himself who will domesticate him.

I move around the room leaving my wallet, keys, etc. on a table, quietly again even though he could sleep through the noise. Then, I walk into the washroom. Usually, I would just freshen up and then hit the gym before a shower but I figure gym needs to be skipped for today. There are more pressing matters to attend to - one such being getting the palace rooms cleaned so we don't have to spend another night at the hotel.

Minutes later when I walk out with a towel wrapped around my waist and another hanging over my neck as I use the end of it to dry my damp hair. I expected Randeep to still be asleep going off his old habits of staying in till almost noon but I find myself surprised when he turns on his back and stretches with a groan. "Look who's back."

There he starts with the remarks for not returning to the room last night.

"You realize it's barely 5:30?" I tease back in hopes of changing the topic.

"Then I suppose that means I roughly got 5 hours of sleep only since I waited up till late thinking you'll be back so we can do some much needed catching up."

And I see he is not going to let it go.

He sits up stretching again, "So. You and Jhanvi?"

"It's not what you think," I say not wanting him to get the wrong impression.

"With all respect, bro, you don't know what I think."

"I stayed the night in her room. I am sure I can guess what you think. Am I wrong?"
