The Next Morning
8:25 am
"GOOD MORNING MR. SANTIAGO, HOW IS EVERYTHING WITH YOU?"
MISS KASEY enters the room with her white smile and chocolate colored skin. She's beautiful, youn, vibrant. She's very driven in what she does, excelling in the medical field. Kasey comes to work every single day with an open mind. She cared for her patients individually and not once complained about her hardening job. Her curves are out of this world and long sister locs decorate her head. They are pinned up with a colorful scarf showing her true roots. The dangling yellow earrings dance under the sunlight coming from the high windows. Miss Kasey moves around with ease in her nurse uniform, checking my vitals carefully.
"On the upside. Absolutely can not wait until I am out of this hell hole." I glance at her and catch eye contact. She dismisses my words, chucking an exhausted sigh. For some time, nothing is audible except the sound of her natural nails hitting against the keyboard attached to a computer next to me.
"Well, looks like today around 3:25 pm is your only chance to walk free." Miss Kasey clasped her hands together and saunters back over to me in comfortable black leather FILA shoes. My eyes never leave her as she goes over to what I call the prep area to gear up.
She grabs a pair of blue hospital gloves but before putting them on, she sanitizes her melinated skin. Being the man that I am, I can not help but to watch as her backside moved with everything she did. I am happily married for sure, but it didn't hurt to look and not touch. When Miss Kasey turns back my way, I am in no shame with my game as I don't hide the fact that I was staring. This makes her cheeks warm with blush. No doubt that Juno is a handsome man but he is simply out of her age range. She'd run circles around him with the things she could do.
"That's great." A cackle escapes my lips as Kasey continues to do her job. Reaching behind my back, she adjusts the controls on the bed so that I am sitting upright. She had to change my bandages around the torso area of my body. I hated this part of every day but it was okay because she's quite easy on the eyes while cleaning up my old blood. I sigh as she grabs a package of clean bandages, some peroxide and alcohol mixture, cotton balls, what looked like a normal towel, and a bin full of warm water.
"I know you don't like this but I have to do my job and make sure you are in great shape to leave this bad boy." Miss Kasey grabs the same chair Junior had sat in just hours ago. She sits with her legs opened, eye level to my chest gunshot wounds.
"Eh, it's not that bad once I think about it." I make a sheepish face. "Having a hot nurse making sure your okay sounds lovely to me."
"Same old flirting man I see." She laughs.
"Ahh, now why would I ever seem to change?" I continue to look over at her glowing face. She removes one of the bandages, watching as blood is seeped into it. She doesn't gag, and neither do I. I guess we both had our fair share of seeing the dark red colored liquid. Me more than her if we were talking about quantity. Kasey finally removes the soiled bandage to the side in a near by trash can, making a mental note to empty it later. She observes my wound with interest. The hole where the bullet went through was nearly healed, the blood just couldn't stop flowing. This was normal for elder people because blood became slightly thin when reaching a certain age limit. She begins to clean the wound, dabbing a cotton ball in the cleansing mixture. I brace myself as she applies the cold adhesive to my skin. For a mere minute, the burning sensation seems to be unbearable until I'm use to it.
