Chapter 12

~Jeff The Killer's Point Of View~

I left her with Toby, I missed her. How could I just walk away like that? I should go back to her, and tell her how I felt.... she wouldn't feel the same way. If I told her, she might freak out, and it would hurt me more.

I closed my eyes and started to daydream.

"Kali... I-I like you...." I whispered to her. She smiled and looked at me. "You do?" She came in and hugged me tightly. Kali didn't let go, she just hugged me. I breathed in her lovely scented perfume.

I opened my eyes, as my heart felt like it shattered. "That would never happen.." I muttered to myself. I clenched my knife in my hand. I can dream all I want... it will never come true.

~Kali's Point Of View~

I sat on Toby's couch as we watched a movie. My heart beat in my chest in suspense. It was a horror movie, something about a family who moved in a house, and it's haunted. They started seeing ghosts and stuff like that.

Toby held me close, because he knew I didn't like horror movies. I decided I would watch one because he really likes them. I started to think about Jeff - how weird he acted, the blushing, the hesitation, and his sadness as he spoke.

Was something wrong? I began to worry... He was fine... He was going to be okay... at least I hope.

~Time Skip 4 hours~

"Kali, it's time for you to go home..." Toby told me. I shook my head, " I don't want to.. I want to stay with you." I tugged on his arm.

Toby sighed. "You can't stay with me, you have too much to lose. Your mother, your friends, you can't just give it all up for me." He placed a hand on my shoulder.

"I love you though! I don't want to leave you!" I pleaded.

"As much as it hurts me to tell you to go home... It's best for you." He nodded.

What he said is true, I do have so much to lose. I kissed his cheek. "You'll be better off home." He fake smiled.

All of a sudden, we heard police sirens echoing through the woods. My mother probably called the police and reported me missing, or someone found the dead man Jeff saved me from. Jeff... no. I loved Toby, Jeff and I were only friends. Only friends.

"We need to get you home, quickly." Toby told me. "Can you take me home?" I pleaded.

"I can't... If anyone saw me..." His voice trailed off. I nodded. Honestly, I wasn't ready to go home yet. I was ready to stay with Toby.

"Please don't make me go home." I have him puppy dog eyes. Toby shook his head.

"I know it's best for you, we both know." He stared at me.

"Oh, Toby! I'm going to miss you so much." I gave him a hug.

"Goodbye... Kali." He whispered. I didn't like goodbyes, especially when it was from people I loved. All I wanted to do was run away, with Toby - Be with him at all times, never leaving his side... Ever. Obviously that won't happen...

He gave me a quick kiss. "I promise, I'll see you soon." He smiled.

I smiled back. I couldn't believe I was actually saying goodbye. My breathing became unsteady. "It'll be okay." He held my face and looked at me.

I cried. "I don't want to go home! Please take me with you, Toby!" I screamed at the top of my lungs. Suddenly, we heard the sirens approach closer.

Toby covered my mouth as we saw a police car pull up. He told me to hide somewhere in his house. He quickly took everything off that made him seem suspicious. He looked like a normal guy. "Afternoon, Officers." Toby greeted them.

"Sir, we heard screaming coming from here, do you mind if we check the perimeter?" An officer asked.

Toby hesitated. "G-Go right ahead."

I heard the door open, and two officers came in. They started checking under things, inside things, and in rooms. Finally one officer stopped at a closet I hid in. He put his hand on the door handle and slowly opened it. I came face-to-face with him.

"It's her! The girl that's missing!" He grabbed my arm and room me outside.

"Care to explain, sir?" The officer asked Toby. He shook his head.

"I ran away, he didn't kidnap me... He helped me because I was lost!" I blurted out.

Everyone looked at me. "Why were you hiding in the closet?" The officer raised an eyebrow.

I thought for a brief moment... "I-I didn't want to leave." I lied.

The police nodded. "You still have to go home." He said.

"Yeah... I know." I looked at the ground. The police lead me to the car. "Thank you, sir." An officer said to Toby.

I mouthed the words, "I love you to Toby." He mouthed it back.
