A few weeks had passed since Keith and Lance had gotten into that argument.

Alas, the event that Takashi's band would be preforming at was in two days. That meant lots of preparation. After Takashi had sent the event manager a demo CD that contained a few of their songs, and had gotten approved, it was like Keith never existed. Takashi basically ignored him. Yes, it hurt a little, but Keith was never going to admit that.

On top of that, Lance had been acting strange. He had seemed so excited to play at the event, but now he seemed a little somber. Keith felt bad after the fight they'd had and he never apologized for getting so aggressive. Keith decided that he would apologize at lunch, which was next period.

Keith worked on his pre-calculus sheet, slightly surprised that Lance didn't tap on his shoulder and ask for a pencil like he usually did. Keith turned his head slightly, catching a glimpse of the ocean eyed boy holding his jaw with his palms. Damn, Keith thought. I wonder what happened. But then Keith caught himself. Why would he care about me if I were upset? Keith didn't realize that he had been staring, and Lance caught his gaze.

"...What?" Lance grumbled, though there was no aggression in his voice. He sounded...empty.

"Uh-nothing." Keith whipped his head around, and he felt his cheeks flush a pale pink. What was Keith blushing at? Clearing his throat, he continued to work on the pre-calculus.

Then he felt the tap on his shoulder.

Keith felt a flood of relief. Why? What made him so concerned about Lance all of a sudden? He twisted around, pale violet eyes meeting ocean ones.

"Can I talk to you at lunch?"

Keith hesitated. "Yeah...I wanted to talk to you, too."

Lance nodded before sitting back in his seat. "Also, do you have a pencil?"

A smile cracked Keith's lips. "I have a package stashed away just for you."

And in that second, Lance was smiling as well.

Finally, it was lunch. Keith felt upbeat for a reason that he wasn't aware of. Was it because Lance wanted to talk to him? No. That would be weird. Walking into the lunch room, he spotted Takashi's group, Lance among them. He walked up to them, standing next to the edge where Takashi was sitting. Lance was watching Keith. He could feel it. Keith looked up, attempting to catch his gaze, but Lance flicked his eyes away quickly.

"The event is happening in two days," Takashi spoke. "We're going on at 7:30 for preparation, then we'll start playing at 7:35." He looked over to Keith. "You coming?"

"Yep."

Takashi let off a small smile. "Good. The manager said that we can bring a few of our friends for free."

"Could Pidge and Matt come?" Lance asked.

"Sure," Takashi nodded.

"I heard that Romelle is throwing a Halloween party on the night of the concert, too. Her parents will be gone and the house is all hers," Allura spoke up. "She invited pretty much anyone who wants to go."

"The whole school can fit into Romelle's house?" Hunk chuckled.

"Her house is huge."

Keith turned away, unneeded in the conversation. He walked into the hall and found himself going to the school entrance. Suddenly, there were footsteps approaching him from behind. He knew it was Lance.

He turned, catching Lance's gaze. The boy's face was emotionless.

"You wanted to talk to me, right?" Keith asked.

"Yeah..." Lance said slowly.

"I'm listening."

"So..." he began, "I wanted to apologize for being a dick. I never got the chance to say sorry, so I figured that I should do it now."

"You're sorry for the fight or being a dick in general?" Keith cocked an eyebrow.

"No." Lance chuckled a little. "For the argument we had."

"Well in that case, I'm sorry, too." Keith leaned against the wall.

Lance furrowed his eyebrows. "Sorry for what? You were only defending yourself?"

"Still, I was being insensitive."

Lance hesitated. "I think we could be friends."

"I'm emo. You're popular."

"Yeah...but you're friends with Takashi. He's popular, too."

"Takashi is like my brother. We've known each other since we were in preschool."

Lance sighed. "Nevermind." He turned away. "I'm going back to the group. Have fun being by yourself." Then he walked away.

Keith blinked. What the hell? What had caused Lance to get all pissy? Keith grumbled. Why had he asked for them to be friends anyway? That wouldn't work out.
