The duo had been ordered to overlook the operation while Phil had left to handle "other business," as he had stated it. And although the two were put in charge, they had nothing to do but roam the area until Phil returned. So the siblings simply walked in silence, at least until Lucas decided to open his mouth again.
"Where do you think Clint is? I mean it said in the case file that he was called in for this, so where is he?"
"I don't know Lucas, he's got to be somewhere," the girl spoke as she stopped in her place. Mikayla started backward with a grin on her face. "We have nothing better to do, so let's go find him."
"Okay but we have to be quick about finding the bird-brain, we have no idea when Phil will be back." At her brothers words, Mikayla let out a chuckle and turned around to turn the corner of the hallway. But as she did, she ran into someone's chest and stumbled back a little at the impact. Annoyed with this person, she looked up with a scowl on her face, ready to give the person a word or two about walking right next to the wall as they rounded a corner. But instead of seeing the unfamiliar face of another agent, she was met with the face of one of her closest friends.
"Wow, 'bird-brain', that's hurtful, Lucas," Clint Barton taunted as he pointed at the boy, a small smirk present of his face. Mikayla let out a laugh and rushed to wrap her arms around the man in front of her. Clint joined in her laughter and hugged the girl back. Mikayla was glad to see Clint again. He was an important person in her life, and with so little of those kinds of people in her life, she needed to savor the moments she got with them. After a few moments they released each other and Lucas joined the two.
"It's so great to see you again Clint," Mikayla squealed quietly. Both men laughed at the brunettes enthusiasm as Clint turned to greet the boy next to him silently, clapping him on the shoulder as he grinned. Leaning a bit closer to the man, Lucas whispered, "So, Clint, how's things back at home?"
Both Maverick twins were aware of Clint's secret family, I mean they were his best friends, besides Natasha of course. The two had actually met Laura many times before with Nat, and had even gained the title of auntie and uncle when the Barton's further extended their family.
"They're pretty good, as always. But what's up with you two?"
Mikayla was about to shrug off his question by saying something along the lines of oh nothing much, or it's fine, until she remembered something. As the memory filled her mind she immediately perked up and smacked his chest with her hand a few times excitedly. With the biggest grin on her face, the Maverick girl prepared to expose his brother to his "cool, older bestie."
