. . .
It took a whole month before Jisoo heard from the producers of WGM. Their first meeting last June went well; the producers asked her what kind of dates she liked, what kind of house she wanted to live in, her favourite movies, books, and even food.
They said they needed the information because they need to set up everything early, since there won't be much staff around during the show.
"Hello," Jisoo and the rest of the members greeted the WGM staff before them, bowing in respect.
"Alright, let's get down to business," PD-nim said once the formalities were done. "We've finally polished everything down for at least twenty episodes. The ideal timeline is a year – considering your busy schedules, that's approximately 50 episodes with 20 minutes each."
"Oh my, that's a long time, unnie!" Rose exclaimed.
"Yes, it is," PD-nim agreed. "We've collaborated with your managers to fix your schedule. Here's a copy for you."
Jisoo took the schedule the producer handed to her. "It says "First Meeting" next week?"
The girls fluttered and squealed with delight.
"I'm not sure I'm ready to meet him yet," Jisoo said with a laugh.
PD-nim smiled. "I think you'll like him."
The girls only squealed harder.
. . .
It's their first day to shoot We Got Married. They were told to dress up and go to an old set dear to their hearts – Blackpink House.
"How fitting is it that we're shooting the first episode here," Jennie said. "So many memories."
"The house smells funny," Jisoo commented.
"Coming back to this house makes me want to eat," Lisa grumbled.
True to the Producer-Director-nim's words, there wasn't any staff with them inside the BP House. Instead, there were cameras everywhere. Aside from the ones attached to the walls, there were a few set up on tripods.
"Do you think they're recording already?" Lisa asked.
"I think so," Rose said, putting her face near a camera. "This one is following my movements."
Jennie approached the living room. "Look, there are letters on the table!"
The girls sat down on the sofa and Jisoo picked up the envelope that said "OPEN FIRST"
"Dear Ms. Kim Jisoo," she read aloud. "Welcome to the season 5 of We Got Married. We've got great things in store for you! But first, we're giving you the opportunity to contact your husband before you meet him."
The girls giggled and squealed with delight as Jisoo read the letter.
"Please open the box on the table," Jisoo continued.
Rose handed her the box and scooted closer to get a better look.
"It's light. I thought it would be a phone," Jisoo commented.
"Like Sungjae-sshi and Joy-sshi last season!" Jennie exclaimed. "Open it, unnie!"
"What if it's a bomb," Jisoo commented as she opened it. "Boom!" Jisoo made exploding sounds as she lifted the lid off.
"Unnie," Lisa cringed at Jisoo's absurdity.
They all peaked inside the box. Inside were two envelopes, a pen, and some stationery. One of the envelopes were sealed and contained a letter. The words "To my wife" were written on it in a neat handwriting.
"Omo!" Lisa was beyond herself. She was having second-hand butterflies in her stomach.
Rose has her mouth wide open while Jennie kept squeezing Jisoo's shoulders. "Open it!"
Jisoo couldn't contain her smile. "Wait, there's something written on the lid," she said. "Inside is a letter from your husband –"
At this point, the maknae line of Blackpink were screaming and jumping around, especially Lisa.
Jennie was whining while she rested her head on Jisoo's shoulder. "I'm so jealous," she mumbled.
"Don't steal my husband," Jisoo joked. "Get your own show."
"Open it!"
"Read it!"
"Aaaaaish," Jisoo exclaimed, pretending to get tired of the members pushing and pulling on her. "Ya, isn't this supposed to be a private moment?" She glared at the camera situated in front of her. "Turn away," she joked.
She carefully opened the letter, trying not to tear the envelope too much.
"Oh, it's a long letter!" Jennie screamed. "Read it aloud!"
To my wife –
It feels strange to write a letter to someone I don't know. But don't worry, I promise to love you like a husband would whoever you are. I'll take care of your and cherish you. Please accept my love.
I am an idol – I belong in a boy group. I'm not allowed to date, so now that I'm given this opportunity to experience what it's like to love someone freely without worrying about my career, I'm going to use it as long as I have you to love.
Please take care of yourself until the day we meet, and I'll take it from there.
I can't wait to finally see your face and hold your hand.
Love,
Your husband.
Jisoo could barely read the letter without being interrupted by her friends. They couldn't contain their excitement - they kept pushing, pulling, screaming, and squealing.
"Oh my, he's so sweet!"
"It's definitely an older man!"
"Or someone old fashioned – "
"He's an idol, too! I bet we know him –"
"All this love stuff is making me hungry –"
"Unnie, you should write your reply!" Rose said, handing her the box with the stationery and pen.
"I don't know what to write," Jisoo mumbled. "Do I just say "I'm glad you're not a murderer –"
"Unnie," Lisa gasped while Jennie burst into silent laughter.
"I'll just draw poop and write that's me."
"Unnie!"
"Unnie!"
"Unnie!"
