A buzzing woke me up, I looked around and it was still dark out. I looked at my phone and saw Arielle calling and that it was two in the morning.

"Hello?" I asked groggy and tired.

"Lexa? Lex?" Panic filled her voice and immediately it scared me.

"Arielle what's wrong?" I asked now fully awake.

"It's Sander."

My heart dropped. "What? What happened?"

"There was an accident and-"

I couldn't hear anything else all I felt was my heart completely drop. I wanted to throw up, cry, and scream all at once.

"Is he okay?" I asked.

"I-" She sounded on the verge of tears. "I don't know Lex."

"What hospital are you at?"

"Covern."

I hung up and ran downstairs to the car. I hopped in but I was shaking so much I couldn't get the keys in the ignition. I ran upstairs and woke Luca up crying. He immediately was concerned and through tears I explained to him what happened. He immediately got up and together we went downstairs and hopped into the car.

The drive to the hospital felt eternal and endless. The whole way my heart felt like it was going to pop out of my chest. My anxiety felt crippling, I couldn't even imagine a world without him. Luca tried to comfort me but it was no use I'd only be okay once I knew he was okay.

As soon as we arrived at the hospital I jumped out of the car and ran into the ER. Arielle immediately jumped up but I went to the receptionist.

"Hi my boyfriend Sander Davidson is here can I please know what's happening?" I asked.

She looked at me, gave me a small smile, then turned to her computer and typed in information. She read. "Sander Davidson, car accident, is currently in surgery. Status unknown."

"What do you mean status unknown? How could you possibly not know his status unless he were..." I held back tears.

"Ma'am I'm really sorry but all I know is he came in with extensive injuries and has been rushed into surgery."

Luca thanked the woman then steered me away. When he steered me to Arielle I chocked out. "What happened?"

Her eyes immediately watered. "I was at a party and I got really drunk and I thought I was calling you but I ended calling Sander and he came and took me home. But on the way home some asshole on their phone smashed into Sander's side of the car while running a red light."

I gasped and held Luca as I cried.

We waited for seemingly endless hours.

At one point Luca went to get us coffee and I was sitting with tears leaking out, my leg bouncing, constantly checking my phone for the time. A little girl and her mom walked in, her mom told her to go sit while she went to talk to the receptionist. She padded over to where I was and sat down two seats from me. She swung her feet and looked around until her eyes landed on me. Confusion was written all over her face.

"Why are you crying?" She asked.

I tried to smile at her. "My boyfriend got hurt and is trying to get better."

She smiled. "Well there you go he's trying to get better!"

I smiled at her innocence then asked. "What are you here for?"

The girl got a dark look in her eyes. "I don't know. Mommy got a call and immediately woke me up to come here. She was really upset and crying just like you."
