I had stayed up the rest of the night and now had bags under my eyes. So tired yet so eager.
I got up and changed my clothes, not that it matters much because they were still bleach white.
I snuck over to the desk which had a pen I had snaged along with the stupid little crayons and paper. Etching another few marks to measure how long I'd been here I added to the tallys.
There was enough to be about a month and they lined the desk edge.
I added six to count for the day and the few days I'd been in ISO.
Walking towards the door heard a knock and pulled it open.
It was a new nurse.
She had short hair that just barely covered her ears. She had big cooper glasses that engulfed her dull brown eyes and a very pale face.
H-hello, my name Emma, but you can call me Em. I've been assigned to some people here for psychological assessment and you're on my list, she said looking down at her mini clipboard.
I studied her further. I wasn't usually speechless, but I had no idea how to talk to her. People were like books to me, easy to open, but she had a lot of hidden snips I couldn't find.
Avoiding to reveal anything before I could uncover her I simply nodded and motioned for her to lead me.
I kept up with her hurried pace and continued to be puzzled by her.
Was she nervous? Anxious?
Her face said calm, but body gave off a worried feel. I peered forward to look into her eyes, but the glare of the light made them reflect into
mine.
I wish you wouldn't do that. I'll tell you plenty once we get to the room. She spoke as she picked up the pace leaving me a few feet behind.
Weird. I backed off and let her be anonymous for now.
We finally arrived at the room and she unlocked it. It wasn't like the rest of the rooms here, it had a deadbolt lock instead of a key card.
Inside it was also different. Walls painted a dark grey and lights a bright yellow giving the room a comfy vibe. Bookshelves lines the walls with some of my favorite books and novels.
This place was a dream.
I guess she saw me gawking at some of them because she headed over and pulled out a slender book and popped it open.
Alice in wonderland, she read. One of my favorites, I never finished it though. I hate endings, so I just reread the beginings over and over again, but enough about that. Let's talk about you, Alice. She put the book back neatly where it had been before a sat down in the grey recliner.
Pulling her feet up into a cross cross she looked like she was a child waiting for a story.
I started to open my mouth but quickly closed it. This woman couldn't be much older than me. Her hair made her look like it, but her attitude showed her inner child.
21, I said simply. That's how old she was. She had to be freshly out of college to be so sophisticated yet so perky.
She smirked, Nice deducing Sherlock. Tell me, was it my taste in literature or need to be on the snarky end of the table?
I shook my head no and gestured to her legs.
Damn these things tend to get me caught, she said getting up.
She walked behind her desk and crouched down underneath it, pulling out a couple of juice boxes from it.
Catch! She said flinging one at me.
As I flailed to do so she laughed and smiled awkwardly.
Never was good at that, throwing.
I let out a slight laugh in agreement and she smiled more.
Don't tell anyone I have these. She whispered. I managed to sneak them in along with all this other stuff, she motioned to the entire room.
My eyes widened in disbelief.
She smiled more and chuckled at my expression.
I know right? I couldn't take all the emptiness though. It's like it's dead in here.
I knew what she meant.
It was all too bleach cleaned and wiped down. Like if they were trying to erase us from ourselves.
We sat down in her cozy chairs and sipped our juices thinking.
I looked back up to her.
I know you can talk, you already have. Now couldn't you just tell me what you're thinking?
I wanted to scream at her what I was thinking and for her to tell me she knew what it was to be trapped in her own thoughts, but she made me speechless, nervous even. Besides, I thought. She has no problem with voicing herself.
I sighed, and slumped over my self.
She did the same as if understanding me.
I know kid, I know.

H-hello world, how's eveyone? I hope good, cause I haven't been. I've been really sick and running back and forth to my grandma's Kemo sessions so I'm exhausted. This chapter was more based off of a future event that will be occurring next Wednesday for me. It's basically Emma as me, see I have longish hair now and I'm cutting it really short cause I'm sick of long hair. Egh, whatever, but yeah Emma is like me in my head because in real life I'm like Alice around her. So I hope you enjoyed this chapter, like it if you did and follow me if you want to be notified when it get updated, which is every 3-4-5 days. Love you guys!
