WHEN JASON SAW THE black shape descend from the sky in their direction, he'd finally began to breathe. As it got closer he could see a pair of winged animals — gray, four-legged, exactly like horses — except each one had a twenty-foot wingspan. And they were pulling a brightly painted box with two wheels: a chariot.

Jason and his friends been through one hell of a morning, and it didn't look like it was over yet in the slightest.

They'd lost the only person that seemed to have any sense of what was going on to the storm spirits that attacked them, and only now did it look like there was some hope for the three delinquents after all.

He'd felt the energy waves fueling off of it before he even comprehended what it was, but he was less inclined to believe some it was from some horses. Still, he stood with his head high.

"Reinforcements," Jason said. "Hedge told me an extraction squad was coming for us."

"Extraction squad?" Leo struggled to his feet. "That sounds painful."

"And where are they extracting us to?" Piper asked.

Jason watched as the chariot landed on the far end of the skywalk. The flying horses tucked in their winter and cantered nervously across the glass, as if they sensed it was breaking. Three teenagers stood in the chariot — a tall blonde girl maybe a little older than Jason, and a bulky dude with a shaven head and a face like a pile of bricks. But Jason didn't have his eyes focused on them.

Behind them was a shorter auburn-haired girl who radiated what felt like waves of powerful energy, and he realized what he'd felt had been her. She was pure energy. Her light eyes bore into Jason's with a curious look in them, and he felt his cheeks begin to burn red.  Her skin was pale and if it hadn't been for the angelic aura that radiated off her soft smile when she strutted over to them, Jason would've felt intimidated.

"Woah, who's the hot chick?" Leo whispered out to them from the side of his mouth, nodding his head to the girl Jason had been staring at.

Jason, so clearly entranced already, could only manage a shrug.

"Not now, Leo," Piper groaned.

The tall blonde girl in front of her pulled a knife and ran towards them in a hurry, with Leo's new crush not far behind.

"Where is he?" the blonde demanded, her gray eyes burning with intensity.
