HIS FIRST THOUGHTS WHEN he saw the girl he'd been starting to care about be dragged into the room unconscious: everyone better get the fuck away from her.
Without a thought in his head besides that, Jason rushed over and scooped Imogen's small figure away from the girls, who all had tears in their eyes. The redhead who had been holding her feet was full on sobbing, and Piper was shaking.
"What happened?" Jason asked quickly, lowering himself and Imogen's body to the ground and holding her face in his hands.
Overall, her body looked peaceful, her eyelids were still, yet her eyebrows were slightly furrowed into a frown. Like she was thinking unpleasant thoughts, and seeing sights no longer seen.
When he didn't get a response, Jason's tone hardened. "What's wrong with her?" He asked again.
"Hera's cabin," Annabeth managed to gasp, and Jason figured they'd ran all the way here. "Vision. Very bad."
The redhead girl looked up at them, tears rolling down her face. "I think. . . I think I killed her."
Jason felt his stomach climb into his throat, as he shook his head repeatedly, refusing to believe that. He examined her body and sighed in relief when he saw her stomach move up and down softly. "She's breathing."
Chiron instructed Jason to move her to the couch, thankfully with enough room he was able to lay her comfortably with her head in his lap.
Annabeth rushed to get the medicine kit while Piper sank to the floor beside them.
"We've got to heal her," Jason insisted. "There is a way, right?"
Seeing her so pale, hardly breathing, it was hard to imagine the body before him as the girl he'd met this morning, who had literal waves of powerful energy radiating off of her. The girl who had blasted chaotic storm spirits with a flick of her wrist.
Jason felt a surge of protectiveness. Imogen had been kind to him and his friends, spoken softly to them all when they were getting snapped at by the others. Maybe he didn't know her that well, but from the moment they shared on that chariot, Jason had decided he would be there when she called for help any day.
Chiron put his hand on her forehead and grimaced. "Her mind is in a fragile state. Rachel, what happened?"
"I wish I knew," she said. "As soon as I got to camp, I had a premonition about Hera's cabin. I went inside, I didn't even notice she was there. Annabeth and Piper came in. We all talked, and then — I just blanked out. Annabeth said I spoke in a different voice."
