Chapter 2

I raced out of the airport as fast as my legs would carry me thankfully I don’t have a big suitcase, just a have a small night over bag; so as I run the rain drenches my hair my curls immediately uncurling.

“Bell over here,” I heard Mark shout pulling up beside me.

“Hey,” I said as I jumped in the car slamming the door shut.

“How are you,” Mark questioned driving off quickly.

“So scared I’m shaking,” I answered showing him my hands that haven’t stopped shaking since I got the call.

“Matt’s in a coma,” Mark announced.

“What,” I shouted my eyes widening and my heart beating out of my chest.

“They don’t know when he’ll wake up or even if he will,” Mark informed me.

“Are you kidding me,” I said tears pouring out of my eyes unable to stop them.

“Unfortunately I’m not,” Mark replied saddened.

“What about Piper,” I questioned.

“Oh she’s fine just a broken arm,” Mark stated.

“Just a broken arm,” I questioned alarmed and confused how he could say it so calmly.

“Bell I was just trying to make it sound not as bad but seriously she’s fine she’s actually liking all the attention, she’s even made the cast bright pink like really bright it’s almost blinding,” Mark replied.

“So she’s okay then,” I said relived.

“Yes thankfully I couldn’t imagine what I would do if something happened to my Goddaughter,” Mark announced.

“I’m glad we picked you as her Godparent,” I replied.

“Thanks and Bell I’m sorry you it happened at a bad time,” Mark replied.

“Yeah, one week until my wedding, has it all been cancelled?” I wondered worried that it will be too late to cancel soon.

“As soon as the word spread around about the accident and the seriousness everything got cancelled and no one is going to make you pay for the cancelation they all understand that this is going to be a hard time for everyone,” Mark explained.

At times like this I feel so blessed to live in a town where everyone cares for each other like one big family.

“How much longer,” I asked looking out the window to see we were nearing our home town.

“You don’t remember where the hospital is? You had Piper there,” Mark wondered.

“I was in labour on the way there and on the way back I was so caught up with how small Piper was I didn’t look around much,” I told him.

“True, true, the hospital is about 10 minutes away,” Mark answered.

“Can you drive faster,” I asked noting wanting to wait much longer to see my family.

“I would but this area is full of speed camera’s,” Mark replied.

As the time ticked by my heat seemed to beat faster and stronger soon my hands began to sweat and shake again then I zoned out watching the rain hit the windows of the car the next thing I knew the car stopped and we were sitting outside the hospital.
