Y/n's P.O.V.
Three weeks after sending my letter to Alexander, informing him that he has permission to court me, I receive a letter back from my father instead. The letter simply states he will be coming home with John, Hercules, Laf, and Alexander for reasons he doesn't know of. He stated that Alexander begged him to take a break off war because he needed to talk to him about something "concerning his daughter".

But the awkwardness of the silence that swallows us during dinner is unbearable. Alexander just stares intensely down at his food, Hercules stealing worried glances from him. Laf was eating quickly and nervously. John simply smiles warmly in my direction from across the table. I return the smile before averting my eyes to my father.

I pause, pondering whether or not I should speak up for Alexander. Poor thing won't say a damn word the entire dinner. "So... Uh... Father... Alexander wanted to ask you something!"

Alexander looks up at me in shock. Father and mother exchange glances of amusement. Holy crap, why am I calling them father and mother!? Washington speaks up, "Ah, I was wondering what was so important, we had to pause fighting. I'm guessing you want to speak privately?"

"Y-yessir..." He gulps.

As Hercules, Lafayette, John, Martha, and I descend to the next room, I whisper something in Washington's ear, watching as his happy expression disappear.

"I'm so sorry... There's not a way I could figure out to bring your daughter back. Forgive me."

My smile falters as I watch Y/n follow after Martha and the rest. I exhale a shaky breath, trying to keep my composure.

"So, Alexander, what is it you wanted to speak to me about?" I plop down across from his nervous posture. He stammers at first before finally finding the right words.

"S-sir... Y/n is very special to me... And I think I've fallen in love with her..."

Oh... Oh, my God... She's not even my daughter...

"I came to ask for your blessing. I mean, I know I'm an orphan with barely any money, but I promise the best life for your daughter! I will make her time with me worthwhile and I will always remain loyal to our love. And even if you decline this, I will forever love and cherish my moments with her." Alexander looks up into my eyes pleadingly.

What do I do? She's not even my daughter! My daughter is never coming back! This is too much to take in, what do I do!?

"Alexander... I..." I watch as his hopeful expression tones down. I pause before a smart idea pops into my head. "Please give me one moment," I step outside and request for Y/n to follow me.

"Y-Y/n?"

"Alexander..."

"Y/n, I want you to be honest," I step aside, examining as they stare lovingly into each other's eyes, "Are you willing to spend your life with this man? What's so great about him?" I wasn't trying to sound mean or anything but I want to hear her response.

"What's not to like? He's smart, kind, fun, not to mention very handsome..." Their cheeks redden.

"And..?"

"I'm willing to spend my life with him..."

Who am I to stand in the way of her happiness? And let's just be honest, if my daughter were here, she would say the same thing. What are you thinking, George, she isn't coming back... This is your daughter now. And you will protect her like her own father.

"Then you have my blessing, Alexander," I declare, a grin playing my lips. Alexander stares up into my eyes proudly with determination. I shake his hand, "Be true, son."

"Of course," He turns to my daughter and smiles before embracing her tightly.

"WE'RE GONNA BE UNCLES!" Hercules and Lafayette's voices could be heard from the other room.

The General and his wife left the house in our hands, probably knowing we'll celebrate, so we got out the drinks! I don't hesitate, unlike Y/n, to chug down my wine. I wince as the burning liquid makes its way down my throat.

Many drinks later, everyone was drunk. Alexander and Hercules gave a whole speech about how we don't deserve ducklings or something. Meanwhile, John and Y/n were nowhere to be found. I tried to excuse myself from them but they insisted I stay.

Guess I'll never know what they're doing.

But...

I have a feeling it's a terrible mistake...
