THE MOON SHONE BEAUTIFULLY as the first years boats slowly arrived at the castle. The first years make their way up the wide staircase, finding a woman standing patiently at the top, "Welcome to Hogwarts. Now, in a few moments, you will pass through these doors and join your classmates. But before you can take your seats you must be sorted into your houses. They are Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, and Slytherin. Now, while you are here, your house will be like your family. Your triumphs will earn you house points. Any rule breaking, and you will lose points. At the end of the year, the house with the most points is awarded the house cup" She explains,

"Trevor!" A boy yells, picking up a rather sluggish looking toad, the woman cocked a brow, "Sorry.." The boy mumbles, slithering away into the crowd of first years.

"The sorting ceremony will begin momentarily." The woman says, turning on her heel and slipping into the great hall.

"It's true then, what they're saying on the train. The Potter twins have come to Hogwarts." A boy with platinum blonde and perfectly slicked back hair says. There was an outbreak of whispers and gasps, "This is Crabbe, and Goyle." He says, taking a step forward in front of the twins, "and I'm Malfoy... Draco Malfoy." He smirks, but his attention snapped over to a snickering Ron, "Think my name's funny, do you? No need to ask yours. Red hair, and a hand me down robe? You must be a Weasley. You'll soon find that some wizarding families are better than others, Potters. Don't want to go making friends with the wrong sort. I can help you there." Draco says, holding a hand out to Harry who looked a little mad at how he treated his new friend.

"I think I can tell who the wrong sort are for myself, thanks." Harry says, Draco scoffs before turning his attention to Y/n who stood beside her brother.

"You're the other twin, aren't you? Not too bad, not too bad.. how about you?" He smirked, holding his hand out. Y/n was sure she didn't want to be friends with a boy so rude. Especially when he had just been rude to Ron.

"No thanks, I don't like being friends with intrusive people." She says. He sends her a strong glare, but deep down, behind all that rudeness was a small sensation of butterflies, though he wasn't going to show he was slightly flustered by one of the Potter twins, so he kept a scowl on his face. Soon, the woman ‒ that they all later found out was Professor McGonagall ‒ came back, tapping Draco on the shoulder with a piece of parchment.

"We're ready for you now." She says. The first years follow her in, walking in duos. Y/n walked next to Hermione ‒ because she quite enjoyed her company ‒ and Harry next to Ron.

"It's not real, the ceiling. It's just bewitched to look like the night sky. I read about it in Hogwarts: A History." Hermione informs to Y/n who just nodded in awe as she stared at it.

"All right, will you wait along here, please. Now, before we begin, Professor Dumbledore would like to say a few words." Professor McGonagall says, motioning to the small area at the front of the hall as Dumbledore rose from his chair.
