IN HARRY AND Y/N'S new room, which was actually Dudley's old toy room, the twins sat on their beds, the sound of Euphoria and Hegwig's chirps filled the air, "We can't let you both out. We're not allowed to use magic out of school. Besides, if Uncle Vernon‒" Harry says but is cut off by the loud voice of Vernon Dursley,

"Harry and Y/n Potter!" He booms. Y/n looks at the two owls who were now guiltily silent, "Now you've done it." Y/n mumbles. The twins get up from their small beds hastily and walk downstairs. In the kitchen, Petunia was putting the finishing touches on her cake, humming to herself quietly.

"I warned you. If you can't control those bloody birds, they'll have to go." Vernon says bluntly. "They're bored. If we could just let them out for an hour or two‒" Y/n starts but was cut off but Vernon, "And have you sending secret messages to your freaky little friends? Nope." He laughs.

"But we haven't gotten any messages. From any of our friends. Not one. All summer." Harry reasons, but Vernon was having none of it. "Who'd want to be friends with you?" Dudley scoffs.

"I should think you'd be more grateful. We raise you since you were a baby, give you food off our table, even let you have Dudley's second bedroom... purely out of  the goodness of our hearts." Vernon says like he's some hero, which he was the complete opposite, by the way.

"I thought they got the second bedroom because Mum was afraid they'd turn us into dung beetles if you put them back in the cupboard under the stairs." Dudley frowns and reaches out a finger to the cake, trying to taste a bit, "Not yet, popkin. That's for when the Masons arrive." Petunia smiles.

"Which should be any moment. Now. Let's run through our schedule one more time. Petunia, when the Masons get here, you will be‒" Vernon motions, "In the lounge, waiting to welcome  them graciously to our home." Petunia says, smiling somehow disgustingly sweeter than before.

"Good. And Dudley?" Vernon asks, looking at Dudley, "I'll be waiting to open the door." Dudley smirks proudly, Vernon nods before turning his attention to the twins,

"Excellent. And you two?" Vernon raises a brow, "We'll be in our bedroom, making no noise and pretending we don't exist." Harry and Y/n say, nodding. "Too right you will. With any luck, this could well be the day I make the biggest deal of my career." Vernon says. The doorbell rings and Vernon instantly pushes the twins to the stairs. They both walk upstairs and into their room, only to be greeted with an unfamiliar voice,

"Harry and Y/n Potter! Such an honour it is!" The voice says, making the twins lower their eyes to the ground where an house elf stood with ‒ what looked like ‒ a pillowcase for some coverage.

"What... Who are you?" Harry asks, frowning. "Dobby, sir. Dobby the house elf." Dobby bows.

"I see. Not to be rude or anything, but this isn't a great time for me and my sister to have a house elf in our bedroom." Harry says, itching the back of his neck. "Oh, yes, sir, Dobby understands. It's just that, Dobby has come to tell you... it is difficult, sir... Dobby wonders where to begin." Dobby says, copying Harry's actions and itching his own neck.
