"Wish you would've given me a heads up." Detective Bowie mutters as we park in front of Kamskis house.
"It was a last minute decision." Lieutenant Anderson admits, stepping from the car. I follow, as does Bowie, and we knock on the door. Eventually a blonde android known as Chloe answers the door. Lieutenant states our business here and we are let in to wait for Kamski. I sit by Anderson and he turns to me.
"You're about to meet your maker, Connor. How does it feel?" Anderson asks me.
"It'll be interesting to meet him face to face." I answer simply. I would say I'm very indifferent about Elijah Kamski.
"Sometimes I wish I could meet my creator face to face. I'd have a couple of things I'd wanna tell him." I get up and leave the conversation to avoid their typical emotional session and look around the room. It really didn't matter what I look at, nothing here is useful to the investigation. Soon enough Chloe reenters the room.
"Mr. Kamski will see you now." She says orderly. We enter the next room, being greeted by a large red pool, 2 more identical Chloe's, and Elijah Kamski himself.
"Mr. Kamski?" Hank calls.
"Just a moment please." He answers, wanting to finish his laps. We walk to the corresponding wall where the ladder to get out of the pool is and wait. When he finally climbs out of the pool, the main Chloe brings him a robe and dresses him. He turns and faces us.
"I'm lieutenant Anderson. This is detective Bowie, and this is Connor." Anderson introduces us.
"What can I do for you, lieutenant?" Elijah asks. I peek over at Bowie and I catch her rolling her eyes. It appears she isn't a fan of him already. Then again, this is her day off.
"Sir, we're investigating deviants. I know you left Cyberlife years ago but I was hoping you'd be able to tell us something we don't know." Anderson states clearly.
"Deviants. Fascinating, aren't they? Perfect beings with infinite intelligence, and now they have free will. Machines are so superior to us. Confrontation was inevitable. Humanity's greatest achievement threatens to be it's downfall. Isn't it ironic?" Elijah says, eyeing his Chloe.
"We need to understand how androids become deviants. Do you know anything that could help us?" I ask. I can tell he's stalling.
"All ideas are viruses that spread like epidemics. Is the desire to be free a contagious disease?" He asks.
"Listen, I didn't come here to talk philosophy. The machines you created may be planning a revolution. Either you can tell us something that'll be helpful or we will be on our way." Anderson snaps. Even he is tired of this. Kamski looks at and approaches me.
"What about you, Connor? Whose side are you on?" He asks.
"I have no side. I was designed to stop deviants and that's what I intend to do." I answer neutrally. I'm walking on thin ice with Bowie already, I don't want to push it.
"Well, that's what your programmed to say, but you, what do you really want?" Kamski challenges.
"I don't want anything. I am a machine." I persist. Kamski calls for Chloe and she comes to him obediently.
"I'm sure you're familiar with the Turing test. Mere formality. Simple question of algorithms and computing capacity. What interests me is whether machines are capable of empathy. I call it the Kamski test. It's very simple, you'll see." Elijah observes Chloe closer. "Magnificent, isn't it? One of the first intellegant models devoted by Cyberlife. Young and beautiful forever. A flower that will never wither. But what is it really? Piece of plastic imitating a human? Or a living being with a soul." He turns away and pulls a gun from a drawer, then forcing her to her knees, and places the gun in my hand. "It's up to you to answer that fascinating question, Connor." He wraps my hand around it firmly and has me point the gun at the android before me. "Destroy this machine and I'll tell you all I know, or spare it, if you feel it's alive, but you'll leave here without having learnt anything from me." He proposes.
