The Many Worlds of Alexander Roberts

Chapter One: Meet Alex

Alexander Rupert Roberts had a perfect life. His parents were rich business people. He was the most popular kid in school. He was the captain of the football team. He got straight A's, and he never got in trouble. He was the perfect child. 

It sounds like the typical main character right?

While it seem a kid with Alex's way of life would be happy as can be. However, this was not the case for Alex. He was bored. It seemed no matter what happened, nothing would ever go wrong. He tried everything. Falling off his bike purposely? Oh! What luck! Someone just installed new, super soft soil there. Jumps off the swing in an attempt to hurt his face? Body turns perfectly so he doesn't even get a scratch. No matter what happened, Alex was the only one who noticed nothing bad couldn't happen to him. It seemed nothing bad happened to anybody. You see, Alex didn't know that his Earth was not the universe that you and I know. It was in fact, a universe without flaw. 

Alex didn't like being the popular kid anymore. It seemed that even his closest friends didn't desire anything more than the blank, almost automatic lives that they walked through every day. He would sit in his bed at night and ponder his own existence. 

"There is no point in anything anymore. We have no reason to live."

Alex was almost to the point of suicide. He attempted it many times, but was never able to kill himself without a crazy accident saving his life as the last moment.

His last suicide attempt was by far his craziest and most inventive. Thats where we will check in, shall we?

Alex stood at the top of the spire, holding on for dear life. His mind was racing as he went through what could happen if he jumped. It's not going to work. But what if it does? Do I really want to die? These thoughts raced through his mind at high speeds. 

He closed his eyes and really, truly thought. He sighed and began to climb down to the safe, flat roof of the church. 

"Not yet." he told himself.

And so, that is Alexander Roberts, an empty husk and shell of a person, who walked a slow, preset path of a life. Little did he know, his life would be changed forever by no one other than himself.
