peace, my sparrow,
for the cat will do no harm
her claws have dulled, anger faded,
yellow eyes clouded with age
and you are safe with me
peace, my rose,
for emboldened men will do no harm
though they may be strong
you are stronger
and you are safe with me
peace, my light,
for the ink black sky will do no harm,
the moon is our mistress,
she will protect us
and you are safe with me
peace, my daughter,
for the world will do you no harm
though the mother storms and rages
she gives us life and love
and you are safe with me
