After Aaliyah's death at the 2002 and 2003 American Music Award shows, in 2002 Aaliyah won in two categories, 'Favourite Soul/R&B Album' and won with her album Aaliyah, and won against All For You - Janet Jackson and Songs In A Minor - Alicia Keys, and then later won the award for Favourite Soul/R&B Female Artist, and won against Alicia Keys and Mary J Blige. She then won again Favourite Soul/R&B Female Artist at the 2003 awards.
