So the night had come and Henry sat across the table from his grandfather eating as much as magic could make. "You're looking so smart Henry." Emma said as she walked across the room biting down on her apple and sat beside her son. "The ball tonight I need to look smart, why aren't you dressed?" At Henry's ridiculous question Emma began to laugh and pushed her blonde curls behind her shoulders. Rumple clapped his hands and an invitation appeared upon the table in front of her addressed to lady Katherine.
"I can't go honestly." Rumple smiled and was almost ready to clap it back into oblivion. "Wait!" Henry looked across the table to his mother and gave her the most innocent puppy dog eyes he could manage to pull. "Mom, you have to come please?" Emma couldn't refuse his little face the more she gazed at him and so she wouldn't tell him that she felt like an idiot and couldn't dance. She had learnt but she felt so silly, especially since dancing was one of Regina's favourite things to do.
Emma arrived separate to her son and instantly noticed him dancing upon the floor with Grace. Her eyes then turned to notice Regina, sat alone. Gently Emma moved towards her and couldn't help but look away when the brunette caught her gaze. Standing beside the sitting princess she didn't know how to start and so took a large gulp in "hello princess." She kept her eyes away from the princess's out of fear she might crumble at the sight. "Emma?" Regina gulped and stood so they we're almost of the same height. "Meet me on the balcony of the second floor in the third room." Regina seemed confused and underneath her white mask her eyebrows crumpled "when?" Emma smiled underneath her gold lace black mask and turned "when the penny drops."
Regina sat for what felt like hours trying to figure out what was going on until one of the guard began to man handle Henry. "You we're seen cavorting with the evil queen." They began to shake the boy up and down turning out the contents of his pockets. Regina rushed over to help and called her parents to her aid as they tried to explain the situation to the guard. Regina caught a wink from the young boy and noticed she was standing upon a coin. Gently she fled from the ball. Flicking off her heels on the stairs and bunching up her dress.
She stepped into the black room and headed towards the moonlight that slashed through the room to light the dark face of someone she had known a long time ago, the most beautiful breeze blowing those blonde locks. Regina couldn't help but stand and stare for a moment, it were as though her life were finally complete within one moment. That everything she had ever amounted to meant nothing without the blonde. One breath. She stepped forwards.
